As you can listen to on "my page", I interviewed Mr. Colin Cotterill, a Brit living in Thailand, writing some kind of cozies. What do you think? Is there any place in the world, crime fiction has not explored yet?

Looking forward to your feedback!

Jeez, are they cozies? Only read two and wasn't much enthused. This may be why.

Lars - thanks for pointing me to the interview.

I've loved all of Mr Cotterill's books - but the last one, in particular, Disco for the Departed, really was fantastic. I'm not sure I'd call them cozies as such and the supernatural (or woo woo) element is an intrinsic cultural element for the Laotian people.

That element may take a little while for people to get used to - but you just have to go with the flow and accept that we aren't in Melbourne anymore ;)

I'm just planning a course on international crime fiction (limited, alas, to the small number of books 18 year olds are willing and able to read in a 14-week semester) but there's certainly no end of choices!

We are reading The Coroner's Lunch, as it happens, so I'll be pointing students to your interview. (Thanks!) I just got an enrollment list this week and see one of the students has a Hmong name, so it will be especially interesting to discuss the elements of the book that deal with Hmong culture and spirituality.

Finally the video interview is online: http://www.krimi-couch.de/krimis/video-interview-mit-colin-cotteril...

The intro is still in German, but the interview itself is in English. Hope you like as much as we do!
