I've put up a long-term poll on my blaugh to find out just how many people prefer e-readers over traditional books. I'd appreciate anybody who'd be willing to go over and vote. Here's the url:

www.minervakoenig.com

The poll's on the right side, second item down.

Thanks!

Went there and voted. It's crazy. I've got one novel and a six-part children's chapter book published as ebooks, but I personally will not buy them. I read a ton, sometimes two or three books at the same time, and give me one I can hold in my hand every time--made of paper, of course!
J.F., I'm the same way, and it seems like I hear that everywhere, so I was curious. Thus the poll. It will be open for a couple of years, so it will be interesting to see how the stats add up over time.
It's not really either/or. Some books I want in hardcover. Some I'm okay with mass market paperback and for some books a $2.99 e-book seems right.

Just like some movies I want to see in the theatre but others are fine on DVD.
I'm with John, envision buying ebooks and dtbs into the future.

The people who hang out on the Amazon discusson boards sure love their Kindles.
If someone held a gun to your head and made you choose, what would you pick?
ereader, which is how I voted.
Well, for most of my reading I can easily see myself moving to e-books the same way I've given up all my old LPs and now have my music on my iPod. In fact I'm listening to more - an ddifferent - music since I started using the iPod. The sam could happen with e-books.

And when my eyesght starts to go I'll be able to increase the sie of the fonts and instantly turn my entire collection into large-print books.

I don't have any great love of the paper or the cover or the binding - I'm really only interested in the words inside. Among writers that usully puts me in a minority but I'm not sure it does among readers. As eric says, over on the Amazon discussion boards those people love their Kindles.
I don't have a Kindle (yet), but am not opposed to reading books that way. I love audio versions. And I have fan mail that demands (!) electronic versions of all my books, so clearly there's a market.
I suppose eventually I will have to go electronic. I spend a month each winter in Mexico. I need two suitcases,
one for clothes, and the other for computer, DVD player, books, and knitting yarn. Books are heavy.
Hi Minerva,
I've just cast my vote for books.
I'm not sure exactly how Kindle works---I guess download onto something portable? However, I dont really like to read from a screen. I spend enough time at my monitor doing other things---email, image editing, etc. etc. And it's tiring to the eyes, I think. So when I want a book, I want to curl up with it on the sofa, or prop myself up on pillows---and maybe have my kitty join me too for a quiet couple of hours. ;)
