I received his novel, "Target Lancer" in my book bag at LCC Monterey. I've never heard of this author, Max Allan Collins, totally off my radar. The book is fact-based about an attempt on JFK's life in Chicago, weeks before Dallas. Jack Ruby, Oswald and Jimmy Hoffa are all characters. Collins writes noir and reads like Chandler. He also wrote "Road To Perdition." I'm going to look for the one about Marilyn Monroe.

Any comments? Anyone a fan?

Max Allan Collins has been around for quite a while.

He's from Muscatine, Iowa. He has many books. He's written novels from several television shows, 'historical' murder mysteries, and many others.

I'm sold! My instincts for great mysteries is intact!
