It seems like there are a lot of great private eye novels being published these days but there aren't very many private eyes on TV.

Or am I just not finding them?

I agree! There just aren't many--if any--Private Eye programs to be found these days. Seems Crime Scene Investigation teams are the latest fashion. With the exception of THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, SEVEN SAMURAI, and THE PROFRESSIONALS...I am not much of a fan of group efforts. I am more of a lone wolf, type, I suppose. I miss Powers Boothe as Philip Marlowe (HBO's PHILIP MARLOWE: PRIVATE EYE), I miss PETER GUNN, and anybody remember BANYON? Them was the days, I tell ya!

I understand that Robert B. Parker is in negotiations to bring Spenser For Hire back. I'm not sure if it's a movie or TV series. If you recall, the late Robert Urich played the private eye in a TV series in the mid-eighties.

I suppose you wouldn't count Captain Jack who investigates aliens...

Doesn't Captain Jack work for a secret government agency?

Dana, I do hope they'll be back. That's what I write!

True. I miss them. I can't think of a one. I'm surprised, because there's a lot of private contracting going on, both in civil investigations and in espionage.

Brett Battles writes that sort of book very well.
