Welcome! Having grown up in Oklahoma, I know Nebraska as a formidable college football rival.

Welcome aboard. See you in the forums.

Thanks for the welcome. Everything is good today. Just don't look under the bed.

Indeed, I had one correspondence with her but haven't heard from her when I followed up. I read Unreasonable Risk and appreciated that we had made some of the same observations, especially given that we wrote totally independently of one another. Karen's book--have you read it?--came out about four months after 13 DAYS, and our settings and scopes are different since 13 DAYS is more international. All fascinating.

    Hi Laura,
Thanks. I'll have to do some more travelling and get away from the politics I've been blogging about lately. Travel is more fun. At least some trips around here and there. I'm also a member of Sisters in Crime. Where are you in Nebraska? I'm very fond of Lincoln, but don't know much of the rest of the state.
  • Michelle Martin

Go Guppies! I bet your winter in Nebraska rivals our up here in Alaska.
  • Sheila Connolly

That's what the publisher wanted, although I chose the name. They retain control of the series. But they liked what I was doing enough to give me a second series, under my own name. The series are different in characters, setting and voice (thank goodness, or I'd get completely confused trying to write them!).

That's how you do it. You make the pages bleed!

I love your website! Any thoughts on including Canadian police character series?
  • Laura L. Cooper

I'd like to have international police novels; it just seems overwhelming. Maybe I should begin with Canada. Any suggestions to start with?
  • L.J. Sellers

    Hello Sister in Crime
Great selection of movies/shows. Do you find the Guppies a helpful organization? I've thought about, but we don't have any local chapters.
  • Annette Dashofy

Hi, Laura. And thanks for the invite.

    Laura:
Thanks so much for your good words about Don't Murder Your Myster. May you enjoy revising at least as much as you enjoy writing.
    Best,

    Laura:
Sorry to be so tardy in replying. I'm having fun traveling and doing writers' workshops (more than 9500 miles so far this year), and I seldom have wi-fi access while on the road. So glad to learn that Fargo is one of your favorite films. I loved it, after stumbling upon it one night on TV a few years ago. I found it an unexpectedly well-done mystery. Thank you for reminding me of it.

    thanks. good to meet you!

Thanks, Laura. I forgot all about this site until tonite. Were you at CrimeBake this year? It was my first conference and I loved it. I met so many terrific people. I met Amy MacKinnon and LOVED her book, Tethered.

Now that I see your name I do remember seeing it on the Guppy website. Thanks for inviting me, I look forward to getting to know you better.

I'm getting ready to send out a short. A writing pal is looking it over for me right now. The title is Listen and You Shall Hear, about 1029 words. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks for writing Laura, talk to you later. ~ Dianne
