About Me:
I'm an old veteran, have been writing all my life, really, but professionally since the early 60s, with somewhere around 150 published books and I can't count how many short pieces. I grew up in Ohio (Eaton, a small town), lived most of my adult life in California, Los Angeles, The San Bernardino Mountains, and San Francisco. I retired and moved to West Virginia about 3 years ago so I could write full time (after about a 20 year hiatus). I'm enjoying it now more than ever and I think I'm a better writer than I ever was, but of course, I may be prejudiced. My most recent novel was Longhorns, a gay western published this past June by the now defunct Carroll and Graf. Wildside Press is reissuing about 20 of my old works, and also published a half dozen new ones; and I have a recent collection of short pieces, Come This Way, from Regal Crest, plus a new novel, Angel Land, coming from them next summer (2008). If you go to my website and click on blog, you'll find lots of stories, essays, etc. to read and, hopefully, comment on. I'm kind of new to blogging and these internet connections, but I recently joined Shelfari, which seems interesting, and I am happy to accept Patty's invitation to sign up here - she's a terrific writer.

Books And Authors I Like:
My tastes are so varied - I like Lori Lake, and Rick Reed, Dorien Grey, Anthony Bidulka, Caro Soles, Neil Plakcy. Mary Steward, Helen MacInnes and Mary Renault were all popular in the 50s and 60s and I still enjoy their books. I like John Sandford and Lee Child among contempary writers.
Movies And TV Shows I Like:
I hardly watch TV except for tournament tennis, but I watch some series on DVD - Eureka, Dexter, Prime Suspect. I like anything with Helen Mirren in it. Ditto Barbara Stanwyck. I love old movies, old time movies stars - Bette Davis, Jennifer Jones, Gene Tierney, Bogie, Gary Cooper, Marilyn - is there anyone who doesn't love Casablanca?

Early Endorsements for “A Circle of Souls”

Linda Fairstein, NYT Bestselling Author: "A fascinating debut - this novel takes the reader to the darkest places in the human soul, from a writer with the authenticity to lead us there. A stunning thriller and an important read."

Judge Judy Sheindlin, star of the Judge Judy Show: "The seminal work of this fine author kept me glued to my chair until the adventure was over and the mystery solved. A great read!"

    Book Synopsis:

The sleepy town of Newbury, Connecticut, is shocked when a little girl is found brutally murdered. The town s top detective, perplexed by a complete lack of leads, calls in FBI agent Leia Bines, an expert in cases involving children.

Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Gram, a psychiatrist at Newbury s hospital, searches desperately for the cause of seven-year-old Naya Hastings devastating nightmares. Afraid that she might hurt herself in the midst of a torturous episode, Naya s parents have turned to the bright young doctor as their only hope.

The situations confronting Leia and Peter converge when Naya begins drawing chilling images of murder after being bombarded by the disturbing images in her dreams. Amazingly, her sketches are the only clues to the crime that has panicked Newbury residents. Against her better judgment, Leia explores the clues in Naya s crude drawings, only to set off an alarming chain of events.
In this stunning psychological thriller, innocence gives way to evil, and trust lies forgotten in a web of deceit, fear, and murder.
