I'm a mom, wife to a retired Marine, former professional volunteer (have a cause, will work to solve it for free) and avid reader of all things mystery. I do love a good one! Cozies are my favorites, but I've enjoyed others as well.
When I'm not reading, I'm trying to write. Anything to keep from cleaning my house, but the attacking killer dust rhinos are getting out of control, so it has to be done at some point. Of course, I'm still trying to figure out why it MUST be done by ME.
Apart from the husband and the kid unit (pet name for the kid unit), we have a 68 lb golden retriever who won't believe me when I tell her she is NOT a lapdog.
We live near the beach in NC--right where the Marine Corps dumped us. It's not a McMansion, but it is home, and to be perfectly honest, the dust rhinos are starting to grow on me. Wonder if they'd mind paying rent?
I Am A:
Reader, Writer
Books And Authors I Like:
I'm always finding new 'favorites', but those I read most often are:
Margaret Maron, Carolyn Hart, Janet Evanovich, JD Robb (love that Roarke), Joan Hess, Diane Mott Davidson, among others. Some newly discovered favorites include: Laura Durham, Casey Daniels and Elaine Viets.
A recent favorite of mine is Austin S. Camacho. His BLOOD AND BONE thrilled me from cover to cover!
Movies And TV Shows I Like:
Like my books, the TV I watch is crime related as well. NCIS, Law and Order SVU, CSI (original and Miami versions) top the list. I'm also addicted to Survivor, Heroes and Medium. I let a good comedy sneak in every now and again, but CourtTV has my attention as often as any network.
Hey Laine,
Just popped in to say hello! Are you doing National Novel Writing Month this year? Also, Are you planning to go to
Malice again this spring? Let me know, I'd love to hear from you!
Jane
Hey!
I can relate to the home improvement/finance debacle! Well, I hope you can still try to go to Malice. I am waiting to sell one house now, so my chances of going are partly dependent on that. Anyhow, thanks for telling me about Austin Camacho-I'll look for the book. If you haven't read any of Sarah Graves' Home Repair is Homicide novels, give them a go! The stories are set in Maine-giving them a decidedly Yankee flavor.
I'll have to put some dog pictures on my page. We have four now because my husband rescued two puppies recently (setter mix and very cute!).
Jane
Hey, Laine!
I'm looking forward to next year and planning my excuses for travelling. Do you attend the Cape Fear Crime Festival in Wilmington NC? Wondering if it's worth the plane fare. Of course, if I get to see you that gives it extra points!
