Thanks for the offer, David...my next effort deals with loose nuclear fissile materials, so I might be taking you up on that...

Nah Normal's about an hour east of Peoria. Thanks for stopping by and saying hello to the newbie....I'm still learning the ropes here and to be honest Crime and Mystery aren't my strong suit but I'm always up to meeting new people with a passion for writing and who enjoy to read as much as I do.
  • Eileen Hawkins

Books have always been my window on the world. I wore out several bedspreads as a child reading books in my room. But I occasionally get out on my scooter. As a matter of fact, we (my service dog and I) are about to leave for a scooter ride.... to the library, natch. But we'll probably have to bus it, the winds really blowing and I don't think my battery has enough juice for the whole trip. Need new batteries or a better head that remembers to plug it in.
  • Rich M Carroll

As the saying goes....It plays in Peoria.....

To which I say...If it doesn't play in Peoria then it's not worth watching because I haven't seen it. (Honest this has nothing to do with me being a self centered only child)

Anyway I am not alone in the Peoria area here on Crimespace. My best friend John a.k.a Pen of Milojnir joined right after I did.

But it's still nice to meet new folks who are friendly and take the time to comment to you. Unlike certain other places who's name (MySpace) I won't mention. *Grins*

We can hope for solar powered scooters and the sun to run them on, even in Seattle. Or maybe rain powered would be more apropo.
  • Eileen Hawkins

And now I learn on Sheila Quigley's page you write books with a blind protagonist. I am in awe. Being disabled myself (or am I handi-capable, like they tried to put over a few years ago) I have a special interest in disabilities in fiction. Seattle Public Library has a couple of lists of books with disabled characters, I will look to see if your books are on them.
  • Eileen Hawkins

Not on the SPL lists, but Professor Martin Kich has your protagonist listed in his list of detectives with physical disabilities.

And of course don't forget Lewistown...which of course is pronounced LewisTON.

Ah yes the quirks of the great Midwest.
  • Eileen Hawkins

Of course, David, you know that Hel, one L, was the Norse goddess of the earth.Sadly, I have no fear of Hel, I've already been there.
  • Eileen Hawkins

Apparently they are not on the SPL lists because they are not in the SPL Catalog. Too bad.
  • Jennie Spallone

I'm only thirty seconds into getting my feet wet on Crime Space. How can it best be used??
  • Susan

Wow, Sea of Love! Great movie, and the grocery store scene was fabulous. Ellen Barkin and Al Pacino had great chemistry. Also, I read somewhere that the FBI uses that film (among many) at their training course about serial offenders. Thanks for the comment, David

Yes, it was me 12 years ago. Trust me I am quite ready for the real world Mr Scrooge!
  • Daniel Hatadi

Many people seem to take a while to get their profile pictures up, and others aren't so technically literate. I don't really mind either way, but it does look 'neater' when everyone has a photo. :)
  • Lee Weeks

thank you for inviting me to be your friend. i look forward to lots of discussions .. Lee
  • Ange

Thanks for clarifying. See what too much gin and too little sleep will do to an otherwise perfectly good brain? I am interested in looking for The Suicide Diary, just because it seem so crazy good. Your work is now on my list of writers to explore. I will write more once I read you!
  • Yvonne Mason

that is a good question. I have never read that particular author. However, I will and if you will allow me I will get back to you on that question.
  • Yvonne Mason

    David,
In real life bailbondsmen have the ability to act as hunters. In fact in the state of Florida the bondsmen association lobbied to keep hunters out. They do their own hunting when necessary so not as to have to pay the hunter.
So I guess you could say that Max Cherry could be both a bondsman and a hunter.
I will read the book now because you have nudged my interest.
    Yvonne

Thanks for your witty welcome David. Yes I am from the land down under, ever been? Do you like living in D.C? Is it as political as it seems in books, movies etc? Love your photos. Happy scribing to you : )

I Love Bill Brysons books I think it was published as Down Under, here not sure though. Perhaps there are two books? If so I would love to read he other one, he is so funny. I can't remember the title but the english one is great too. Did you visit Manly in NSW or Qld. Glad you like Australia and all us Aussies.
Happy scribing to you : )
  • realmum

So theres hope for me yet hooray! I might have to read her book, she sounds inspirational. I know someone similar (book stolen) but happily she won the case and has since been published. Good Vs Evil. good always wins doesn't it?
  • Lisa Perry

Thanks David, appreciate the suggestion, I may just grab his book first to get a better feel for his work, then i'll go harass him :)

  • Michelle Gagnon

    LOL, David! Great pic.
  • Katherine

Great photo -- what a mean dive! I usually stand at the shore with my toes in for hours and give hateful looks to anyone who thinks about splashing me. I hate cold water, and have acquired a fear of fish somewhere along the way too. Not so much the sharks, but those little pike and trout that live in those deep dark lakes and brush up against you when you're swimming. Could be I have the same fear with this group -- but I'm sure eventually I'll make it to the deep end!

I was interested in your book and movie selections -- you mention a lot of things that touch on Canada. Sara Polley's Away from Her was such a wonderful film. I'd really like to read your book set in the Arctic. It is a big interest of mine, and spent some time interviewing an Inuit woman for a book I'm considering. They have the most interesting murders up there!
  • Liam

Do you have to send snail mail samples to Spitzer? I think I emailed before and never heard back.
  • Neil Ian MacKillop

Your homepage photo is an out-take from the Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, no?

Yes it is. Come back Conrad Viedt.
  • Austin S. Camacho

Hey, David, Now that I look more closely at the photo I guess it is you after all. LOL! Great talking to you again, and all the best with Hollyweird.
  • Katherine

David -- Sorry I have been away. The book came, but I haven't got it in my hands yet. But I am getting it delivered to me. Can't wait! Sorry to be so long in replying -- talk to you shortly, Katherine.
  • Tory Richards

Hi David, thanks for befriending me! I'm so new here that I haven't had a chance to explore yet.
  • David L. Hoof

It's a great resource. Lots of folks, all open and most willing to trade info depending on your needs. That means me, too. Welcome.
  • Debbi Mack

Thanks for the tip, David. The chapter published its second book with that press and has released its latest through Wildside Press, but if they're looking for short stories, I'll keep them in mind.

I don't have enough of my own for a whole book, so it would have to be part of an anthology they (or someone else) are putting together.

    BTW--nice photos!

    Debbi

Hey, David! I came up with Hannibal well before the Lector guy. His father wanted to name him after an historic military figure and Hannibal was the only great African general he knew. Maybe the stigma will lessen when they make the A-Team movie. then people ask me if I named him after Hannibal Smith. ;-)
  • L.J. Sellers

    Congratulations! That's exciting news.
I have everything I've ever written, including a collection of scripts that I'd love to see "in production."
  • Harry Shannon

Sounds like you already have a lot going, David. Getting anything produced is difficult these days. I'm a screenwriter, but you have that covered--I can recommend a director and a really good makeup guy.
  • Harry Shannon

David, yes he does and he's one of the nicest guys I've ever worked with. Yossi Sasson, www.darkhaze.net.
  • Jessica

Nah they wouldn't want me - too much of a diva, or so they tell me...
  • Alafair Burke

    Best of luck.
  • Harry Shannon

Actually, there isn't much I haven't done at this age, from acting to music supervision, so keep me in mind as you go along, particularly if Yossi is involved. Be happy to help out.
  • Deborah Turrell Atkinson

Good idea, and it may happen, gulp. Basically, it would make for quite a recession locally.
  • JB Kohl

Ahhh....will have to read your stuff....pleasure to meet you.
    My site is www.jbkohl.com....
love the dark satirical work. Can't wait to read yours.

    Best Wishes, Art
  • Pate Grantwell

Thank you for the invitation, David. Glad to make your cyber acquaintance.
  • Karyne

Hi David, thanks for the friend request. What did you think of our lil burg?
  • Karyne

thats a remarkably accurate description. I grew up here, its somewhat like being in another time and place. when my parents first moved here from NYC, they called it a regular Dick and Jane town.
  • Dorte

Thank you for welcoming me :)
I just checked "Blind Jagt" via google - so your Danish ´pen name´ must be David Lorne?
Nice to be in touch with a crime fiction writer (my great dream, as you may have seen on my page).
    New Year´s greetings from Denmark.
  • Harry Shannon

I never check this site unless I get an email prompt, sorry. The link for Yossi should be http://www.darkhaze.net or just email him at yossi@darkhaze.net the movie site is www.deadandgonethemovie.com or www.myspace.com/deadandgonethemovie

We have a new script we're in talks about, but nothing firm yet. He is a terrific guy, contact him. Happy New Year!
  • Matt Rees

I've had a look for Tel Aviv 1952 maps on Hebrew Google, but nothing's come up yet. I'll keep you posted if anything comes up...
  • Astrid Lindeloff

Thank you David. I'm glad you did so well in Denmark
  • Eileen Thornton

Thank you for your comments, David.

    Cheers

Hi David!!!! Yes Steve PreFontaine is from Coos Bay, Oregon. Unfortunately I never got to meet him. We actually live in North Bend which is 2 minutes from Coos Bay. We moved in 1988 and I believe he died in 1968. We have Prefontaine runs for the kids all over Coos County. He was a famous man in this area. When I go to the High School that he attended, they have his pictures everywhere. His parents are still alive and live close to the High School. Thanks for asking.
