Norm Cowie

Profile Information:

Hometown:
Near Chicago Il, and before that a suburb in Baltimore Maryland
About Me:
I might be a bit of a fish out of water here. My first two novels are humor/satire, but I keep hanging around the mystery writers at LIM and before that at Of Dark and Stormy. But I'm keeping the fins wet with a kidnapping thriller that I'm shopping around.
I Am A:
Writer

Books And Authors I Like:
The list would be shorter if I listed the books that I DIDN'T like, but the short list includes Dean Koontz, Douglas Adams, Robert Crais, Carl Haaisen, Janet Evanovich, Dave Barry ...
Movies And TV Shows I Like:
I'm in REALITY SHOW HELL... I admit it, I watch Survivor, American Idol, ESPN... okay, a lot more of ESPN. I got sucked into the other stuff to spend time with my wife. And don't tell anyone, but I watched Nanny 911 more than once.

Thanks for the invite, Norm. I don't think anyone is a fish out of water here, if they're interested in crime fiction. Sounds like you are.

I'm with you on the ESPN.

I'm happy for Earl, but Yao-man should have won.
  • norby

Survivor's really the only one on main network tv, plus I watch Deadliest Catch, Mythbusters, and Dirty Jobs.

Yao-man was my first choice-he appealed to the geek in me. Earl was next though.

Paw Paw!! My goodness. My husband works for WMU's Residence Life Dept., that's why we moved to Kalamazoo. Small world.

What's sad are the silly reality shows that I get sucked into, like, say, The Real Housewives of Orange County. If I see even five minutes I'm gone for at least an hour.

Hah. Funny. I spent most of my time up on the hill on East Campus. It's been awhile since I've been up there though. My sister is still in Paw Paw and mother in Battle Creek. I'm near Chicago, surrounded by flat land that is rapidly morphing from corn fields to traffic congestion. There's one last cornfield about two hundred yards away with a forlorn, doomed look on its face.

Hi back, Norm. No.. I wont be at Schaumburg this year.. going to be out of town. I'll be down at Printers Row next weekend though... you?

There's nothing quite so enjoyable as any type book genre with a bit of humor! I'll be looking for your book. Thank you for the invite!

Hi Norm. Thanks for befriending me. I, too, have been sucked into the reality TV black hole. Top Chef and Project Runway are a couple of my guilty pleasures. There're more, but I need to maintain an illusion of dignity.
  • Robin Caroll

Nanny 911? My husband BLOCKED it from our tv. LOL And blocked the search for america's next supermodel too...our teenager had that set to record every time it came on!
  • Robin Caroll

LOL....yep, they tell me it's a public forum. But shh, I won't tell anyone!
  • TJ Perkins

I don't think I'll make the book fair, but I will be at the Random House Book Fair in Westminster, MD at the Carroll Comm College. Maybe I'll see you there!
  • Maryann Mercer

Hi Norm...it's Maryann from this year's LIM (I was the closet Colt fan). Are you coming again next year?
  • Norm Cowie

Yeah, we were definitely in the minority, huh? I am planning on going again... I heard a rumor that they're going to do a humor panel, and I get to be on it.
    Et tu?
