what a coincidence. my sister-in-law just sent me a clipping from the idaho statesman on murder in the grove. nice interview and photo!

    Anne,
That article just cracked me up. I got more play than the really "famous" writers. Sometimes PR just works that way.

shhhhh ... I'm incognito. I was told how the cow ate the cabbage the other day by someone here and have chosen to lie low. This will work, don't you think? :-)

The clock is SO messed up. Or have I landed in an alternate universe.? (thanks for the common sensical reply. Deadline hell has made me a little ... off. Though I swear it's not morning!)
  • Patricia Abbott

    I only look 107.
  • Victoria Ridley

Thanks for the chatter and for the friends request! Good to meet you.

Jasper Fforde? Oh yes! (Hurries off to include him in favourite authors list).
  • Leann Sweeney

Thanks for visiting Writers Plot page! You're the first chatter-er. And a GOOD friend.

Hi Pari. Thanks, it's good to be here.

Love it when you said 'when my kids get hungry they find me'. Mine are finally old enough that when they now get hungry they raid the fridge. Easier on me - horrid on the cheque book.

It must be a different tai kwon do -- we do not have a brown belt in what she is in. Kicker is my middle child - 16 year old daughter and she has been doing this for 8 months now. Went from white to orange to yellow stripe, yellow, green stripe and is green now. Has blue stripe, blue, red stripe, red, black stripe, black and then the various levels of that still in front of her.

We have 5 kids, three of whom are boys. The oldest is 21 and works out so all he does really is study, work out and eat (well and hang out with friends but that usually involves eating too). The 16 eats all the time. The 14 year old (second boy) eats as 14 year olds do - constantly. Only the 10 year old gives us break. Oh and the second oldest? She is 19 and a vegetarian in a household of carnivores. Adds a whole new level to figuring out what to buy or cook.

I love your books - Sleuth got them in for me last spring and I am very much looking forward to the third

    Hi Pari,
Did we meet at lunch at Left Coast Crime in Seattle? With Carola Dunn and Deborah Donnolly and Pat Rushford?
  • Delphine Cingal

Thanks for the invite. Well, I hope that another French person depressed by politics will not be too much for you to bear :-))) Judith summed up the situation pretty well, I think. + French detective fiction writers and readers being often liberal, you will not find many of us to support either Le Pen or Sarkozy. :-)

HI, Pari. Glad to join your gang. It's interesting to meet someone else with a China connection. Ever thought about writing about your past in Hong Kong?
Asian crime fiction rarely makes it big on the world stage, but just occasionally it makes its presence felt. "The Departed" for example, was a Hong Kong-written crime story that was transplanted to Boston and swept the Oscars this year. Three more HK crime stories have been purchased by Hollywood.
I think there's a case to be made for writers to deliberately find offbeat subjects and locations for their stories. Publishers and film houses will shy away from taking risks, but for the ones who do, the rewards are great.

    Hi Pari!

Thanks for inviting me. And, I don't have a cat avatar, but I do have four cats. Personally, I think those of us who love cats should feel as superior as our cats do. (smile)
  • Lois Reibach

Thanks for inviting me. Guess you noticed I pasted in my favorite reads from my list for DorothyL last year. I did like the email you sent when I listed them awhile back. And I liked seeing your matzo ball soup. My husband makes it at our house.
  • Nichole R. Bennett

I write mysteries where ghosts and spirit guides are among the main characters. Please tell me about the paranormal group your talking about.
  • Bob Sanchez

Where do you live? Are you in Santa Fe? As I write this, I'm in Paducah, KY with my wife and two cats. We're on our way to Mass. for June. I expect we'll get up to SF later this year.
  • Beth Walker

Hi Pari. Thanks for the friend invite! I think we are on some of the same elists, but, I rarely post. Btw, love the chili peppers!!
  • Tess G

Thanks for the interest Pari, I've elaborated on my writing. I'm just so new to everything--not sure how all this goes.
  • Tess G

Thanks for the add! We love The Princess Bride!!!

  • Craig Clarke

A fair question. Of course I read women writers. It is simply that none of them have reached "favorite" status.
  • tom fritsch

You are correct! I'm in AZ. The photo is in Sedona:)
    I'm a writer trapped in a reader's body
  • Merrill Young

    hi ya sweets!
I am CR The Clovis Incident, and enjoying it immensely.
However, I want to take you to task for unduely influencing your readers.
Guess which pseudo canned dairy product I bought at the grocery store to bring with me on my holiday?!

Hi Pari - I love your name, by the way. I see by your bio that you are a student of languages. Parlez-vous français? Je suis en train d'apprendre la belle langue - a govenment requirement (for my job). Thanks for adding me to your friend list.

I love your name, Pari. Thanks for the invite, I always appreciate meeting another who doesn't forsake their poetry. Is your photo taken in Santa Fe?

    Hi,
I’m looking forward to sharing writing experiences with you.
I have “finished” a mystery novel, still needing some fact checking and editing. My plan is to hire an editor and then put it on a print and demand website such as lulu.com.
Reason: I don’t want the hassle of trying to sell and promote it. Yet don’t want it to land in a drawer, as some kind of hobby product.
Any thoughts? Any suggestions for an editor? Your opinions are welcomed.
(My icon has no meaning; it was the only graphic I had stored in my computer.)
    Thanks,
    Joan

I agree. I have young children and I love this movie. The great lesson is when he offers the boy the draw because he knows he can't beat him.
  • Kitty

I don't know that I'd say I'm good at shooting pool, but I have my good days and my bad, if you know what I mean ...........
  • Kathryn Lilley

Hi Pari! Great to meet you here! Some of those 12-week transformations in Bill Phillip's book are so amazing, aren't they? I think you must have to be really hard-core about it to get that level of change!
  • Bruce Findleton

    Hi Pari,

Thanks for the invite. Your books look... interesting ;)

This is what I like best about this site, finding great new authors to read.
  • Mary Elwood

Hi Pari..thanks for the invite..it seems like we have a lot in common what with the masters degree and a lot of different jobs...glad you decided to go with your heart and write...i will check out your books and refer them to a friend of mine who likes the psychic/vampire genre
  • Kim Howell

I really enjoy watching Without a Trace too. The stories always seem believable, and I can relate to both the families seeking answers, and the detectives getting to the bottom of events. What works for me on any show I watch, is getting to know the players, seeing a good plot, and watching the story unfold. What doesn't work for me, is shows that are never ending, have very little plot, and leaves you hanging by the end *scratching my head, wondering why I wasted the time it took, to even bother turning the tube on to begin with*.
  • Kim Howell

I see you like "The Closer" too. Being that I now living in NC and adore seeing Kara Sedgewick, I really enjoy watching that show as well. Unfortunately, I've missed every episode they've shown since it started back this time, but am looking forward to catching the series on DVD when it's released.

I've been cutting back on paying the cable company for their increasing rates, and since I rarely turn the tv on, I decided to cut back to the basic channels. The Closer is on one of the channels that isn't included in the package I have now, but the money I saved, will be better used to see the series without all the extra commercials. :-)
  • Lisa Stiles

Tasha has been a great encourager. Thanks for stopping by!
  • ChristopherGMoore

Thanks for the invite, Pari. I am a daily reader of Murderati.com Though I must confess at the moment, my attention is on events unfolding in Burma. I have been there many times and fear for friends on the ground.
  • Ann C. Theis

HI, Pari. Thanks for the note. I lived in NM (Albuquerque) for seven years and hope to return to the area someday. My sister lives in Flag, so I still get a southwest fix every so often. BTW, I'm looking forward to the Socorro book . . .
  • Charlotte Williamson

Thanks for the invite, Pari. Looking forward to conversing. You have an unusal name. Sounds Russian. It think it's delightful. I love names that are different from the norm. Makes a person stand out. Your profile reads like an in-depth thinker.
  • Charlotte Williamson

It pays to be different, though. People will definitely remember you. I'm sure you're proud of your lineage. Have you ever done a family tree? Your's sounds like it'd be very interesting.
  • Charlotte Williamson

    Pari,
Just finished your article in "The 3rd Degree." Very informative. Let me ask you a question. I already have two books in publication. It's a small publishing house, and they don't do much in the way of promotion. I think promotion is the hardest part of being an author. Lotta work. Do you or other agents usually take on (as clients) published authors? I never really entertained the idea of procuring an agent, but with my third novel (which I'm in the process of writing), I thought I might give it a shot. Your thoughts? Ideas?
  • Charlotte Williamson

    Pari,
Thank you for responding. Is trying to get an agent AFTER publication going at it backwards?
  • Lillian Porter

I've just finished the Belen Hitch and enjoyed it very much.

    Looking forward to reading more
  • LC Fraser

Hey Pari! Am trying to get Sleuth to order Socorro for me and they cannot find a mention of it even on the UofNM website publisher page. Any idea when it will be available? I thought it was out about now but JD says that this has nothing yet and usually stuff is there for him to look over three months in advance. I don't know who to nag but you. I could send the kid to kick someone I suppose (just kidding)
