Donna, Flowers For Algernon qualifies, dear. As do The Andromeda Strain (Crichton), Bid Time Return (Somewhere in Time) by Richard Matheson. All of those are SF. Aliens not required, or in my opinion, even desired. As far as PKD, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep is the only place to start. Hugs and kisses - db

Thanks Dave, then I shall get to Flowers For Algernon asap. And thank you for my title! I don't think it' suits me, but thank you anyway! It's nice to be considered lovely once in a while :o) And I will take heed of your recommendation on the Dick...errrrr....somehow that doesn't sound QUITE right, but I'm sure you know what I mean.

Oh, Lovely Donna... I think it sounds PERFECTLY right...

Howdy, Dave & welcome to crimespace. I'm not a big straight-up sci-fi chick, but I was an enormous fan of Firefly (and very, very irritated when it got canceled). I like cross-genre stuff and your paranormal det. idea sounds interesting. Anyway, lots to do here at crimespace. Have fun!
  • Donna Moore

LOL, well that's ok then Dave (and check your wee message thing).

Angie - I was gutted to discover there are so few episodes of Firefly.
  • Bill Cameron

    Dave, good luck with Medallion!

Hi Dave- Nope, I went to the doctor on Saturday instead. She told me I had bronchitis and gave me drugs for it. Then I came home and slept. Sounds as if I didn't miss much. I've always thought those folks at Norwescon were definitely the type to be center stage at amateur hour.

    Heard back from Medallion?

Oh, and it's "The Illusionist," hands down. I guessed both big plot twists in "The Prestige," and thought the acting was lame (and that Scarlett Johansen was wasted on her nothing role). Paul Giamatti and Edward Norton were terrific, and Rupert Sewell was wonderfully psychotic. Great movie.
