Hi Jan! Thanks for your comments! In terms of widening a story, I think what is meant is widening the scope of the story. That is, make its world bigger, the stakes higher, the tension greater. For you as a reader, I think that would have the net effect of making the book a more exciting and thrilling read. And you're absolutely right that the discussion of "widening" is technical, in the sense that it is a technique that authors can employ to create a certain effect in a book. With any luck, the reader is never aware of all these technical machinations behind the curtain--all they see is the Magnificent Oz!
Hi Jur, normally people overseas can order DYING TO BE THIN from an online vendor such as Amazon. But I'm actually going to ask someone whether it's available in bookstores anywhere outside the US. As the author, I should really know these things, lol! In addition to writing the Fat City Mysteries, I'm also working on a very dark thriller. Hopefully that one will be published someday, as well.
Hi Jur. Thanks for the friend invite. I'm working on a video to promote the release of my e-book. I'll put it on my blog when I have it finished and share it with my friends here. Keep reading! Smiles, BA
Thanks for your invite...I see that Arturo Perez-Reverte is on your list of favorite authors. I forgot about him...I just read Purity by Blood, and it was great.
That's too bad about the girl at the bus stop. Unfortunately random shootings of innocents are not uncommon here. When asked, most shooters have little or no idea, or swear they were upholding some obscure code of "honnor." Sad.
