Too many to list. I love the old paperbacks: Gold Medal Originals, Dell First Editions, etc. Hammett, Chandler, Spillane, Ross Macdonald, John D. MacDonald, Ross Thomas, and on and on and on. Agatha Christie, too.
Bill,
I'm so glad to find you among the Crimespace members. I have to tell you: I REALLY love your Sheriff Dan Rhodes mysteries. I just finished "Murder among the Owls." It was great! I love your character's sense of humor regarding himself. Is Sheriff Dan Rhodes anything like you. From my own experience, I find that an author is usually writing about oneself.
I love Agatha Christie, also. I own hardbacks of just about every one of her books. Dashiell Hamment and Raymond Chandler are among my favorite authors, also. I love the old black-and-white movies made from their books. Good storytelling! I have an original copy of "Tarzan" that my Grandmother owned. It's probably worth a fortune by now, but I wouldn't sell it. I love books. To me, they are more precious than gold. One of these days, real paper and cardboard books will be obsolete. Computers have replaced the typewriter and will eventually replace books. Sad to say.
Bill,
Just purchased "Of All Sad Words." As usual, I eargerly devour your stories. I simply LOVE Sheriff Dan Rhodes. I know one day it will come to an end, (as all writers must do), but for now, keep on writing those wonderful stories.
