Nice to find a fellow Baton Rougean here.
  • Victor Gischler

Hey Toni! I've only been here since the saummer, but I really like it so far.
  • Toni McGee Causey

Wow, you made it through a summer. ;) It's a pretty decent place. I think we ended up with the positive end of things when a lot of New Orleans people moved here (is that where you're from?)... we have a lot more clubs and music and events happening now.
  • Victor Gischler

    Toni,

Not from New Orleans. I'm originally from Florida but moved here more recently from Oklaohma. My wife got an excellent gig at LSU, so here we are.
  • Toni McGee Causey

Ah, cool. We live quite near LSU (my alma mater). And obviously, if you're from FL, you know heat, so this won't be a horrible surprise to you.
  • Victor Gischler

    Toni,

Yes, and it would actually get plenty hot in Oklahoma too, triple digits in summer. Thankfully the humidity was lower.

Now, the scorpions ... well, that's another story.
  • Christa Faust

Back atcha! Loved GUN MONKEYS btw.
  • Victor Gischler

Thanks, Christa. I'm looking forward to your Hard Case Crime book.
  • Sean Doolittle

    Goulet!
  • Jeremy Lynch

Entertainment editing is going wonderfully. So nice to have a legit excuse to watch hours upon hours of films and television.

Send me details about Lee adapting your novel.
  • Victor Gischler

I actually watch lots of film and televsion too, and I also have a good excuse.

    I'm a lazy mofo.
  • Lori G. Armstrong

So....since you watch alot of TV. Are you one of those Idol fans? Or more Dancing With The Stars?

And here's where I admit publicly that I don't watch either. But damn, The Cowboy U season was a killer :)
  • Victor Gischler

For me it's America's Next Top Model and Project Runway.

Yes, my wife is in charge of the remote control.
  • Lori G. Armstrong

Hey, check out the PBR videos I posted. That's what I watch religiously...

Its the only time I'm in charge of the remote.

Have you watched HBO on Friday nights recently? I cannot believe what they're putting on.
  • Victor Gischler

HBO? What, am I made of money?
  • Lori G. Armstrong

You mean you aren't rich? Shit. Removing you from my friend list.

We get HBO as part of our cable package. I figured it was better than Showtime.
  • Victor Gischler

I can barely afford to pay all my servants.
  • Lori G. Armstrong

Yeah, I know those gunsmiths are hard to come by.

    How is Louisiana?
  • Sean Doolittle

Anybody mind if I smoke a jay in here?
  • Victor Gischler

    Extinguish that doobie, hophead.
  • Lori G. Armstrong

More new pics. Guys. I'm confused.

What's a jay (kidding) I know we're talking about birds, right?
  • Lori G. Armstrong

The last message you sent me didn't come thru on my email, so if you'll send it again, we'll see if it works.

Anyone else having this problem today? I've gotten notice for like 4 messages I can't retrieve....
  • Daniel Hatadi

Hey, Victor. Just to let you know, Crimespace email is up and running again. Let us know if you have any further problems.
  • Sean Doolittle

Psst. First round coverage of the WGC at Doral on The Golf Channel. Pass it on.
  • Lori G. Armstrong

Sigh. Real cowboys don't drink PBR because they're not an official "pro rodeo" sponsor, like Coors and Bud. So if PBR ain't good enough for them, it sure as shootin' isn't good enough for the bulls.

Re: Toby Keith/Willie Nelson song: Beer for my HORSES
  • David J. Montgomery

Gisch, you got a new book coming this year?
  • Julie Morrigan

Hi Victor - just finished Gun Monkeys - loved it, great stuff! Thanks for a fab read. Best, Jools
  • Julie Morrigan

Just done my bio for Out of the Gutter - reminded me how much I enjoyed reading Final Tally, so I thought I'd stop by and say so. That was what made me pick up Gun Monkeys. Can't be bad!
  • Kent Gowran

    Brock Samson pretty much rules.

And when is the next book coming out?
  • Tony Black

Thanks for stampin' my pass, Victor. Final Tally was one serious piece...oh yeah. Deadly style.
  • Julie Morrigan

Thanks for chattering on my chatter wall, Victor. Thought I'd return the favour. So... what can I tell you? I went out today and bought stuff. DVDs, CDs and books. And shoes. It's a gender thing, shoes. Y'alright?
  • Harry Shannon

    Howdy!
  • Olav Guldbrandsen

Thanks! Hope the swamp-life treats you good. Had to leave a message because I saw your books lying around in the office of another one of our editors. Wanted them, but couldn't just take them. Now I'll be a liar and tell her I've spoken to you in debth about ... things, and ask if I can read over christmas.
  • Todd Robinson

Don't know if I've ever complimented your Brock Samson photo, but NIIIIICE.

I'm friends with one of the artists on the show, and he told me that the delays have been so severe on the scripts - now the writer's strike - a third season was becoming unlikely.

I choked him until he told me it wasn't so.
  • Mitzi Szereto

Hey mate, happy new year! Hope we get to work together soon!
  • Mitzi Szereto

It's early days yet. Started out crap though LOL!
  • len howlett

Hi, Victor. I read 'Gun Monkeys, and 'Pistol Poets' back to back. I feel a kinship with anyone who sees the hilarity in violent crime, murder, and the relevance of Monopoly to the first two.
  • L.J. Sellers

    Hi Victor,
I read Pistol Poets on a plane and enjoyed it so much,
my husband read it when I was done (and he doesn't read.) Now Gun Monkeys is in my TBR pile.
It is fun to sit around and make stuff up, isn't it?
  • JackBludis

Saw Zulu last week ... Great flick. Read you too ... not so bad, damn good in fact.
  • D.R. MacMaster

Thanks for the add. Great picture, you look very animated. ;)
  • Wayde Klein

    Hey, Thanks.......
  • Wayde Klein

when you want to write a story but don't want to research various aspects of a department or agency...is it wrong to make up things and state them authoritatively?

Exapmle: I have an idea about a story but don't really want to figure out how an organiozed crime task force really works.....mainly because it doesn't matter..but am sure there will be references back to the task force's work...
  • Wayde Klein

reading SHOTGUN OPERA ...wow! slick read......so far, so very good...don't know which was published first, but THE WINTER OF FRANKIE MACHINE is similar but different....
