No, I paid for the book, and I would have paid double. I'll grab Donkey Punch and Saturday's Child when they come out. You're a great writer.

    Just saying Hi from Downunder

Thanks for friending! It must be exciting to cover some of these stories. Certainly gives you that extra insight when writing the book. I look forward to reading it!
    Have a great weekend.

    Hi Charles,
We have something in common. At one time I freelanced for the local paper, the Daily Herald. I did human interest features though, not crime stories. I got to meet some interesting people.

HI Charles, thanks for adding me as a friend. You've had the perfect job to be the protagonist of a crime novel yourself. Is much of your own experience in your novel?
  • Yang-May Ooi

Hi Charles - thanks for sharing your personal experience re using this space. I will quote you on my post and add a link to your page. (I would have asked every one of my friends on crimespace but I haven't got around to typing duplicate message to everyone! So thanks for taking the initiative to give me your views.

I haven't quite got the hang of this space - I'm not sure if I should reply to you on my page or on yours so I've done both just to be sure!

    Hi Charles -

I lived in Tucson for five years, from '83-'88. Even though I was born and raised in S.CA near the ocean, I still found an unbelievable beauty in the desert. We go back to visit friends every couple of years.

I look forward to reading your book. Let me know when it comes out.

    Cheers,
    Patti

Hi Chuck, just to let you know that your email interview for Fusion View (www.fusionview.co.uk) will be uploaded on Wed 09 May at GMT 01.00am. Thanks for writing up such a great interview - I think my readers will find it really interesting, especially the flavour you gave of your life as a crime reporter.

I am sorry that I am unable to make it to your book signing but I wish you lots of fun! You earned it and I look forward to reading your book. Congrats on your published book. 21 years is a long time but than I have already lived that and much more... time goes by quickly. Waiting for a good deal to come along can take a while. =)

    Hello Charles,

I was in Phoenix last July at Thrillerfest - would have been nice to meet you. Didn't get to Mabel Murphy's but got a superb steak in Donovans!

I did some time at Northwestern too. It's a small world.

    Slan, Pat.

    Charles, you said:

"Clifden is a lovely place. I was there years and years ago."

Well, you wouldn't recognize it these days : new hotels, new houses, half-million euro duplex apartments in the center of town, American style supermarket with three levels of underground parking and an elevator that talks to you !

I was at Thrillerfest in Phoenix last July - would have been nice to meet - didn't get to Mabel Murphy's but I had a great steak at Donovans.

I also did some time at Northwestern in Evanston - the Kellogg School. It's a small world.

    Slan go foill, Pat.

Hi Charles - Much obliged for the invite, sir, and the kind words on Crime Always Pays. I'm going to play a hunch here and guess there's a drop or two of Irish blood in them thar veins ... that being the case, why not drop over to Crime Always Pays to do a Q&A in support of Pay Here? You can catch me at dbrodb(at)gmail.com ... Cheers, Dec

Chuck, congratulations on the signing. Our evening in that Mexican joint with Patrick and Ken Bruen and James Sallis a couple of years ago is still one of my fonder memories. I envy you that great bookstore.
