About Me:
I am a journalist, writer, producer, director and photographer who has been fascinated with crime fiction from as early as I can remember thanks to my parent's incandescent love of the genre.

Books And Authors I Like:
Too many to list, but standouts in recent years have been Andrea Camilleri and Italian crime fiction in general together with going back to the hard-boiled prose of Ross MacDonald and the like. John Connolly's early work, Elizabeth Redfern and the duelling kings James Lee Burke and Carl Hiaasen are ever presents in my collection, while Alafair Burke has snuck in too in recent years.
Movies And TV Shows I Like:
The Larry Sanders Show and Arrested Development have been the comedy shows to crease me up consistently, while I am fascinated by The West Wing for its breakneck pace and intelligent scripting. I also hugely enjoyed Firefly on DVD recently and the imperious Deadwood, David Milch is a true poet. Shark is very agreeable viewing, while I still yearn for the odd Inspector Morse episode for John Thaw's masterful portrayal. Let us not forget, Law and Order and SVU. Jerry Orbach was the king. Film fanatic and I enjoy a very eclectic mix of UK, US and foreign fare.

Well, Kalamazoo does have a castle, so maybe there is a chocolate factory hidden away somewhere!

    Hi Matthew,
Hope you got your taxes done. It's a horrible job, especially when you write and deduct expenses as I do.
If you find time, I'm inviting you to join my own network called Book Place at http://morganmandelbooks.ning.com
It's devoted to all genre booklovers including authors, readers, book industry professionals and its purpose is to share and promote books.
    Stop on by some time,

Matt, Thanks for the nice note. Dead Connection will be out in the UK on June 21 and got a terrific review in the Guardian a couple of weeks ago. I agree with you about American Idol, but I do think Blake has serious pop potential. Best, A

    Matt--

Yep hardboiled and noir are alive and kicking. You might take a look at Charles Ardai's Hardcase Crime input to find some good new and old stuff.

Greetings - as a crime novel fan, do you get to any of the book fairs like Harrogate? My book, The Beatitudes, is a paranormal thriller set in New Orleans. It will be out in the fall and I am donating all royalties directly to the New Orleans Public Library Foundation. Libraries support the infrastructure of a great city, so I have started The Beatitudes Network to promote awareness of the importance of public libraries in NOLA.
The blogsite www.beatitudesinneworleans.blogspot.com describes the Network, has excerpts from The Beatitudes, recipes, and more. Merci mille fois. Lyn Lejeune.
Writers, please pass the word…..it’s for a good cause….don’t let the libraries of New Orleans or the US go the way of The Great Library of Alexandria. P.S. just posted an excerpt on my Crimespace page.
