Romance Suspense

Hello Everyone,

I'm Joe and currently working on a Romance Suspense novel. I've been writing for years, but this is first serious project. Looking forward to the interaction with the many writers on this site. Member in the RWA and it seems to be a very supportive group locally as well.

Any advice for the first time novelist...especially in this genre.

Joe

Early Endorsements for “A Circle of Souls”

Linda Fairstein, NYT Bestselling Author: "A fascinating debut - this novel takes the reader to the darkest places in the human soul, from a writer with the authenticity to lead us there. A stunning thriller and an important read."

Judge Judy Sheindlin, star of the Judge Judy Show: "The seminal work of this fine author kept me glued to my chair until the adventure was over and the mystery solved. A great read!"

Book Synopsis:

The sleepy town of Newbury, Connecticut, is shocked when a little girl is found brutally murdered. The town s top detective, perplexed by a complete lack of leads, calls in FBI agent Leia Bines, an expert in cases involving children.

Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Gram, a psychiatrist at Newbury s hospital, searches desperately for the cause of seven-year-old Naya Hastings devastating nightmares. Afraid that she might hurt herself in the midst of a torturous episode, Naya s parents have turned to the bright young doctor as their only hope.

The situations confronting Leia and Peter converge when Naya begins drawing chilling images of murder after being bombarded by the disturbing images in her dreams. Amazingly, her sketches are the only clues to the crime that has panicked Newbury residents. Against her better judgment, Leia explores the clues in Naya s crude drawings, only to set off an alarming chain of events.
In this stunning psychological thriller, innocence gives way to evil, and trust lies forgotten in a web of deceit, fear, and murder.

As a survivor of brain surgery and several car crashes I can advise writing is easier than life. Next time your in the emergency room look to your right I may be on the next gurney. Good luck with your book, let me know when not if it comes out.

Hi Joe,
In my opinion, the south is the best place for a romantic suspense! Which city are you thinking about?
Good luck with the manuscript,

Hey, Joe!
Fellow Squid here. I was a SWO. :) Thanks for adding me. In regard to your Q on plotting--I highly recommend giving it a try. I find it helps me get to a better 1st draft. I also tend to write more quickly & confidently with an outline since I already know the general idea hangs together. But remember, just because you have an outline doesn't mean you can't deviate from it. That's half the fun of writing. --Candace, fellow RWAer too. :)

You guys make me lonesome for Atlanta, too. I'm an Atlanta native from an Atlanta family. Check out my author's page at www.beaufortfalls.com . My father was actually John Wayne and my mother Scarlet O'Hara. Metaphorically, at least.

Wow! You're lucky! But, just goes to show. You CAN fight City Hall. Your phots of Atlanta make me homesick. I sure miss the Varsity hot dogs. I miss being home. Can't wait to move back. I'm attempting to sign up for the Georgia Book Festival. It's to be held in Bainbridge this year. It's sponsored by Dekalb County Library. I always sell lots of books at those events. In March, I'll be signing my books at the southwest Florida Book Festival in Fort Myers, Fl. I haven't gotten too established in Georgia, yet. My appearances have all been in Florida (since I'm a Florida resident; temporarily at least) I want to attend more book festival events in Georgia, starting this year. Hopefully, it will be easier when I move back to Georgia.
