Favorite Crime authors include Dashiell Hammett, Raymond Chandler, Carroll John Daly, Cornell Woolrich, Robert Leslie Bellem, Mickey Spillane, Norbert Davis, Jim Thompson, Oyabu Haruhiko, James M. Cain, and many others.
I am also a fan of Western fiction--in the pulp vein--by such authors as Don Davis, Jonas Ward, Max Brand (aka, Evan Evans), Nelson Nye, and so forth. I think Charles Neider's novel, "The Authentic Death of Hendry Jones" is simply one of the best ever of any genre.
Other authors I like include Eiji Yoshikawa, Yukio Mishima, Sax Rohmer, Robert B. Parker, Elmore Leonard, Ian Buruma, Sir Christopher Frayling, Mark Schilling, Frank Miller, Michael Wallis, Bob Boze Bell, Enrique Abuli & Jordi Bernet (the TORPEDO series), Bryan Burrough, and Ian Fleming.
Movies And TV Shows I Like:
As for movies:
I am an unrepentant film fanatic!
I love Japanese action movies (yakuza, hard-boiled, samurai, etc.) from the 1950's and 1960's. I am a great fan of Spaghetti Westerns, as well. I am crazy about Film Noir and Gangster movies. I admire anything directed by Jean-Pierre Melville, Samuel Fuller, Sergio Leone, Budd Boetticher, Takeshi Kitano, Sam Peckinpah, Toshio Masuda, Johnnie To, Robert Aldrich, Seijun Suzuki, and Howard Hawks. I am very much into Asian Cinema (especially Hong Kong and Korean action movies). I enjoy Indian films. I am a huge Western film buff and---enough already!
As for TV:
I like mostly older shows, such as THE UNTOUCHABLES, M SQUAD, THE TEXAN, THE HIGH CHAPARRAL, HAVE GUN--WILL TRAVEL, TATE, THE WESTERNER, PETER GUNN, PHILIP MARLOWE: PRIVATE EYE, and many more.
I haven't much interest in current television programming. DEADWOOD was the last show I followed with any regularity.

Hey there! Thanks for the add. Yeah, BLAST OF SILENCE is underrated. Good to see you like Elmore Leonard, too. He's the master. Oh, and Spaghetti Westerns, too. Nice! (my next book is a bizarro Spaghetti Western).
