Bouchercon and the New England Crime Bake (better late than never)

"Nice Scarf," I heard behind me on the escalator at the Indianapolis Hilton.

I turned around very slowly. This was a compliment I had been fielding quite joyfully for the entire length of Bouchercon. This is what happens when you wear a bright yellow CRIME SCENE DO NOT CROSS scarf.

"Thank you, Harlan Cobin," I replied.

I also asked him out to lunch. He declined, very politely. Next time.

Bouchercon was a trip. Indianapolis is a weird city, like a 80's vision of the year 2000. Everything is c… Continue

Me, Me, Me

Got a Jack and Roderick short over at PowderBurnFlash--those of you who read "Last Night" recognize Jack, and hopefully you'll get to know Roderick a little better when issue #41 of Hardboiled comes out later this fall.

New Story by my Partner-in-Crime

Matthew Quinn Martin's "Thug's Paradise" is up at a Twist of Noir. One of my favorite things about Matthew, as a writer, is that he never falls into traps or cliches--if anything, he takes the cliches, wraps his hands around their necks, and throttles them until they fall limp. He's got strong hands.

Nice Surprise on a Sunday Morning

Matt Hilton has a sneaky way of doing things . . . I got an e-mail from Christopher Grant telling me that my story "Unplanned" was up at Thrillers, Killers 'n' Chillers. Surprise!

"Unplanned" is a web exclusive--Bunny's version of events is slate… Continue

Eastern Standard Crime and the Flash Fiction Offensive

Two new stories up, the first, "Last Night" is now avalible, for your reading pleasure, at Eastern Standard Crime. Rex Parker, who some of you may know as the blog-tastic crossword puzzle geek, came out of the woodwork of my dark devious past to read this one--what better compliment can a girl get?

The second, "… Continue

Good Stuff at A Twist of Noir

While you're over at A Twist of Noir reading "Props", make sure to read Matthew Quinn Martin's "Bullets Under Glass" Matthew's a real thug on the page; he makes me look like I write cozies about missing teapots.

Good question - I don't think there is a bad L&O. The orig still rocks, and I have a soft spot for the duo on CI. Also the casting on SVU is top-drawer. Such good writing all around - it inspires me.
