Suzanne [your first name is my middle name],

There is standard issue resolution - the good guys do win and everything. Its how they do, that makes the book a wild adventure rather than a parade of proper procedure.

Would you consider reading a different crime story...One that is more of a main stream adventure tale than a traditional crime story?

The pitch is that its a group of vigilantes sent by a conjunct deal between the Mayor's Office with the Police/Sheriff...to find some drug traffickers, set them up for a warranted bust and thwart a manufacturing scheme by the bad guys.

Does this sound at all appealing? Please explain your answer.

Suzanne, it was my pleasure, meeting you. The dinner at Willie G's was fabulous, as was getting to know you, Pari, Barbara and Denny. Thanks for inviting me along and making me feel at home. In fact, the four days at LCC ranks as some of the best times I've ever had.

I've been keeping a low profile. Probably won't make LCC in Denver. I took a bad fall several months ago and am still on the mend. At least it was down a spiral staircase, for a touch of atmosphere. Meanwhile, looking for TV work, as I always do between novels. Just had a two-year run writing "Video Justice" for Langley Productions (COPS on Fox) and Court TV. I'm not a member of WGA so the strike doesn't affect me, though I support it. I don't work strike-affected shows, strictly non-WGA.

Hi, Suzanne...Nice to reconnect after all this time. I believe the last time I saw you was the Santa Barbara Festival of Books some years back. (Maybe not that long ago?) I'm finishing up my eighth Benjamin Justice mystery, due out from SMP next year, probably the Fall. Hope you're well.

I live and work here and I hope to discover Mysteries To Die For soon. I work on TO Blvd. in the Plummers Furniture right next to MoorPark Rd. Next time you are up here drop in and meet me. I'm not one of the salespeople, I'm the Administrative Assistant and you can usually find me in the back. Just ask for Mari. (pronounced Mary)

Northridge, CA
About Me:
I read nothing but crime fiction, and I prefer the hard-boiled police or PI stories best. I also love to read books set in interesting parts of the world, especially when I'm planning to travel - my second passion. I've attended at least 15 mystery conventions, and I've found the mystery community the friendliest anywhere.

Can't think of a favorite movie, but I see a lot.
Welcome to my Crimespace page. I don't have a lot of time to devote to this, but I'm going to try to share my reading experiences in my Blog area.

Catching up

I had a very busy summer and early fall, so I've gotten behind in these posts. I'll just summarize the best stuff I've read since July.

Free Fall by C. J. Box: Another episode in this wonderful Wyoming series. I've enjoyed them all.

The Woods by Harlan Coben: I've been following all of Harlan's books since the Myron Bolitar series. This book is another stand-alone, and one of the best of that type (I miss the series).

Kidnapped by Jan Burke: I had… Continue

My July reading

It was a good month. I caught up with a number of recommended books.

Silence of the Grave by Arnaldur Indridasen: This is the second of the Icelandic author's works to make it to the US. I liked the first, but I thought this one was better. It's one of those books in which a new building project unearths some bones, and the police have to go back in time (in this case, to WWII) to figure out what happened. This book gives a little more history of Iceland and a time when British a… Continue
