Greeting to a noir fan. My book, The Beatitudes, is a paranormal thriller set in New Orleans. It will be out in the fall and I am donating all royalties directly to the New Orleans Public Library Foundation. Libraries support the infrastructure of a great city, so I have started The Beatitudes Network to promote awareness of the importance of public libraries in NOLA.
The blogsite www.beatitudesinneworleans.blogspot.com describes the Network, has excerpts from The Beatitudes, recipes, and more. Merci mille fois. Lyn Lejeune.
Writers, please pass the word…..it’s for a good cause….don’t let the libraries of New Orleans or the US go the way of The Great Library of Alexandria. P.S. just posted an excerpt on my Crimespace page.

Profile Information

Hometown:
Northbrook, IL
About Me:
I am an Assistant Professor of Media Arts and Sciences in the New Media Program at Indiana University's School of Informatics in Indianapolis, IN. I received my PhD in Critical Studies from University of Southern California's School of Cinema-Television. Along with Shannon Clute, I produce two hard-boiled podcasts, Out of the Past: Investigating Film Noir and Behind the Black Mask: Mystery Writers Revealed.
Website:
http://www.noircast.net
Books And Authors I Like:
I love to read in the hard-boiled tradition. So the usual suspects, of course: Chandler, Cain, Thompson, Woolrich. But I also read a lot of contemporary writers: James Ellroy, Michael Connelly, Duane Swierczynski, Allan Guthrie, Reed Coleman, and Meg Abbott. And I love getting my Hard Case Crime book every month in the mailbox.
Movies And TV Shows I Like:
I love watching films noir, both classic and contemporary. I like a lot of the current neo-noirs, like Johnson's Brick and Black's Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. In terms of the classic era, the usual suspects (can't go wrong with anything by Welles, Huston, or Hitchcock) and I have a soft spot for the great Bs, like Lupino's Hitchhiker or Lewis's Gun Crazy. Also, big fan of the French New Wave like Godard's Breathless, Melville's Bob Le Flambeur, Resnais' Last Year at Marienbad. And love the New American Cinema from 1968-1975. Scorsese's Mean Streets, Cassavette's Killing of a Chinese Bookie, Polanski's Chinatown, Altman's Thieves Like Us, etc. (Don't even get me started on other genres, other film traditions--I love film)

Your crimespace Box

With Shannon Clute, I produce two podcasts every month. You can subscribe to the podcasts at iTunes (and locate the feed using our podcast titles) or find them at most major podcast directories. You can also listen by going to our blog sites listed below:

Out of the Past: Investigating Film Noir
http://outofthepast.libsyn.com
Each film noir weaves its own yarn of longing, corruption, and fateful decisions. On the first of every month, Clute and Edwards investigate one noir or neo-noir in detail. Following various threads of inquiry, they attempt to unravel the vast canvas of noir.

Behind the Black Mask: Mystery Writers Revealed
http://btbm.libsyn.com
Writers of hard-boiled, pulp, mystery, and suspense reveal secrets about their fiction, and the writing life. All interviews are conducted by Clute and Edwards, and new episodes post on the fifteenth of each month.
