Struggler's Blog

First time crime writers

OK this is my first blog and I've decided to dedicate it to crime fiction writers I have discovered, specifically those who have just come on the scene. Over the past few years, first-timers that stick in my mind include Alice Sebold, Jilliane Hoffman, Stuart MacBride, Sandra Ruttan, JA Konrath, Brian Freeman and Mo Hayder - most of whom have gone on to write their second, third or even fourth novel since.

HI! How you doing? Haven't chatted in so long?!
I jumped into sci fi and horror. Well horror because of my first husband (it was only natural).
Just sent in my sci fi m.s. to the publisher.
now if i can only write some kind of noir sci fi?!!
seriously, just wanted to say Hi to ya!

Hi Struggler,

thanks for the add. Great choice of authors. Cool choice of tunes too, I wrote one of my darkest sections of Cambridge Blue by playing 'back to black' back to back for three days! It is so doom laden. Good luck with the writing, if your comments are anything to go by you have a nice slightly Harlen Cobenish (Cobenesque?) style. Cheers, Alison x

why walter, you say the sweetest things. if only my life had been different if only I hadn't decided to marry that jerk...I mean er...to get married to him you know. that dear man I worry about all the time. I worry that something might happen to him. that he might hurt his wittle head and die. but you know about things that. people dying i mean. now what line of business did you say you were in?

are you sure you didn't write the script for that film?!
Look, Mr. Neff--my maid just brought in some lovely iced tea, would you like some? No, i'm afraid it's always cloudy like that. Smells like burnt almonds, does it? How odd. No, I can't say that I can taste that, but then again I don't like iced tea. Do drink up, Mr Neff. it's such a hot day!xxxx
