A Breach of Etiqette

She awoke with intense pain, in her head, her back. Dense smoke filled the air and flames leapt along the wall across from where she lay. Ghostly figures moved around her. Were they shouting? She only heard whispers above the ringing in her ears. Warm blood ran down her face. It was hard to breath. The stench of melted plastic was intolerable.

The last thing she remembered was sitting across from that dreadful young executive. She could not comprehend that despite her seventy years of…

Over 130 people gathered at the National Museum of the Royal Navy in the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard on a blustery day, punctuated by the occasional shower, on Saturday 2 November to listen to two panels of crime authors, crime experts and police debate crime fiction and crime fact. It was great to see so many people there and to welcome back those who had attended the previous CSI Portsmouth events.…

Authors: A Warning About Facebook Ads

This seems to be not isolated to my experience, since there are scores of threads online about how facebook is mismanaging its ad system. Once you open an ad account, it requires you to enter a billing method. However, I cannot close my ad account or remove that billing method. I've tried a million ways. I can't.

Seems scammy.

They also billed one of my advertising campaigns to my credit card when they should've done it to a coupon they e-mailed me. I sent no…

Forget the Real World, Here's A VIRTUAL Launch Party for "Cleansing Eden"

Rather than rent out a community center or library for a "real-world" launch party, I'm hosting one virtually via my e-mail newsletter (shout out to CrimeSpace's Clay Morgan for the inspiration, as he's a big proponent of e-mail newsletters).

But unlike a regular old "buy this buy this buy this" event, this launch party is full of exclusive fun only for newsletter subscribers. I'm including plenty of prizes, an online video game based on the novel, writing I've never shared…

A Publisher? For "Cleansing Eden?"

It's true, I'm happy to say. The good folks of Trestle Press took me on this morning. I'm excited to work with a publisher so committed to reaching readers on different platforms.

It's also nice, once again, to be in a house with fellow C'Spacer B.R. Stateham.

Let the mayhem begin!

Book Review: A Touch of Deceit by Gary Ponzo

Today I am spotlighting Gary Ponzo. His latest novel is called A Touch of Deceit, and it's doing well in the Kindle market. Really well. One of the reasons for this is that I believe his book offers something a little different than many others out there, and the fact that he incorporates his Sicilian background into the story also helps.

The novel opens well with the line, "There was a time when Nick Bracco would walk down Gold Street late at night and young vandals would…
