Stephen R. Coar's "The Deadly Track...A Ride Against Time"

If you like fast-paced action stories with a moral lesson thrown in, I think you’ll enjoy this one.

James Patterson’s “I Michael Bennett” with Michael Ledwidge

Forbes lists him as one of the wealthiest men on earth.  Law enforcement lists him as one of the most ruthless drug lords on the planet.

He is linked to approximately 700 murders in the past 3 years.  His enemies run to the witness protection program at the mere mention of his name.  If they don’t, they end up dead.

He has ordered the assassination of U.S. border patrol agents and their entire families.  Even a sitting judge is not immune to his…

Robert B. Parker, the most marvelous, crime writer, ever

I know it’s a bit late (more than 2 years, in fact), but I’d like to say a few, brief words about one of my favorite authors, Robert B. Parker

I was originally introduced to Mr. Parker’s work by my mother.  An avid reader of crime fiction, my mother and I started exchanging books when I was a teenager.

The first Parker novel she introduced me to was “Playmates”, in 1989.  Yes, I was late for the bandwagon, but when it rolled down my street, I happily jumped on…

Book Promotion

Recently my contract with a publisher was coming to term and I decided not to renew it. Sales were non-existent, and aside from that, I just wasn't happy with certain aspects of my novel (my fault). The cover didn't appeal to me either. I explained this to my publisher.

BABY, IT'S COLD OUTSIDE!

Please excuse the double entendre, but we couldn't help it. These kinds of things don't come around every day you know. The fact that it's been SNOWING off and on here in Southern Oregon the last couple of days, and that a week ago today on April Fool's Day we got a surprise phone call from author Miranda Phillips Walker asking if she could come back home. Here's the backstory: Krill Press was founded in the fall of 2008 and our first title, "Absinthe Of Malice" by…

2011

It's the end of the year, did this year go by fast for everyone or was it just me? I can't wait for the new year, 2011 look out, haha. I thank God for a great 2010, wife, family and friends. There were ups and downs as there usually are but I can honestly say I wouldn't change a thing becuase I know God is in control and everything works out so I look back with a smile on the good and learn from the bad and keep it…

6 Books Everyone (Including Your English Teacher) Got Wrong

Found this over at Cracked.com. It's interesting to read how many classic books continue to be misinterpreted, such as "Alice in Wonderland" (not a drug trip, it's actually about algebra), "The Jungle" (not about bad meat, it's actually a call for socialism), "Fahrenheit 451" (not about censorship, it's about the threat of TV).

Read it here:… Continue

HECTOR LASSITER SPEAKS

I've just posted an interview with actor Tom Stechschulte, the voice of Hector Lassiter in Recorded Books' unabridged versions of my ongoing series. Tom also reads the Cormac McCarthy books, and titles by James Lee Burke and James Ellroy, among many others. There's some interesting stuff on strategies for creating character voices, on dramatic reading and the recording… Continue

ARE YOU KINDLING YET?

We've all heard about the Kindle readers, but I don't hear authors discussing the unique opportunity to put their own work up on Kindle. I uploaded 7 flash fiction stories called "Over In a Flash," created it with a vision of how I wanted it presented, priced it and sent it out to the world.

Now my publisher, Billie Johnson of Oak Tree Press, is putting my novels on Kindle. We discussed it over the phone and she's agreed to offer a service for others who do not want to mess with the… Continue
