How NOT to Write a Bestselling Thriller (With John Dolan)

Today, I welcome one of my favorite thriller writers both on and off the page – John Dolan.

John Dolan is fun. He’s dry, he’s politically incorrect – two traits that do it for me the way a pair of big breasts and a small vocabulary do it for some guys. In my review of his wonderful…

Who else writes like? Choosing crime novels to read

It is often difficult to find a new author and one whose novels you think you might enjoy but libraries are a great place for dipping your toe in the water, or rather for letting your fingers do the choosing and there is also a handy little book that can help with that. I came across this when I was appearing at Chichester Library recently with fellow crime…

This may sound difficult and or expensive, but it is actually neither.…

Some history and some crime

I published my first book, Code of Deceit, in 2007, and I was fortunate enough to have it hit several best-seller lists. I followed that one with Journey of the Spirit—now renamed The People’s Warrior. This one, a historical fiction did fairly well. It was even voted second best in the mainstream category by readers.

Then In 2008, I published Cold Tears. This book exceeded all my expectations, and I have high ones. Voted the best mystery in the world, the sales and accolades…

Tumblin' Dice

Obscured so far by all the hullabaloo over the imminent release ofWorst Enemies (March 1 for Kindle and Nook, only $2.99) is the news that John McFetridge’s newest, Tumblin’ Dice, will also be available March 1, and in a more corporeal sense in that it’s an actual physicalbook, with pages and a cover and dust jacket and binding and all that stuff that keeps IKEA in business selling us shelves to put them on. Politicians are said to be bet for lots of reasons.

The crimes of Milton Orkopoulos are barely remembered outside NSW. It is hard enough to stay awake when following the politicians in one's own state perhaps. If he had restricted his criminal activity to personal possession of marijuana the chances are he would never have been…
