Attention, Vince Flynn fans --or Neil Gaiman fans, since he's featured there too this week-- Sunday night's episode of "The Book, With Earl Merkel" is now available on the radio archives.
Hearing both these outstanding writers discuss their lives & their works is, IMHO, well-worth the "click" on the link below.
Show Synopsis: After a month's-long "foreshadowing" --okay; sure, it's a hoary writing tactic,…

It only seems like five minutes ago I was writing the entry for June and here we are in July (and with little sign of the summer in the UK). So what's happening in July?
On 5 July I am to be guest crime author at the annual conference of the British Society of Criminology taking place at the University of Portsmouth, Institute of Criminal…

Hayling Island Library was buzzing with activity yesterday (although it doesn't look like it from the above photo-but it was, honest!) Throngs of local people turned up to celebrate its re-opening after its major refit.
The library has been completely redecorated and a new community room added with its own separate access allowing the library to run more group activity. There are now toilet facilities (handy when you're in the library a…

BBC Radio Solent called today to ask me if I would be happy to be featured as one of ‘Julian’s People’ to follow throughout 2009. Of course I jumped at the chance. Julian Clegg presents a very lively radio programme from 6.30am to 9.30am every weekday.
“It may be Julian and the team of reporters, travel, weather and sport presenters behind the mic, but it's 'Julian's People' who really make BBC Radio Solent's breakfast show the South's favourite.
Julian’s show has…

This morning, long before the sun rise, I travelled to the BBC studios in Southampton for the Radio Solent Christmas Breakfast Party to celebrate BBC Radio Solent's 100 Lives Project.
BBC Radio Solent's 100 Lives project offers a snapshot of life in the 21st century by following the lives of 100 people over the year. I was chosen as one of the 100 Lives because I live in the Solent area and my marine mystery crime novels featuring Inspector…

I attended the photo shoot for the publicity for the Havant Literary Festival (Hampshire, UK) this morning with fellow authors, Brian Clarke and saga writer, Dee Williams. ( I'm on the right holding a copy of THE SUFFOCATING SEA.) The children are from Warblington Senior School. The photograph was for The News, Portsmouth's daily newspaper. An article is to appear in Wednesday's edition and hopefully on line.
As part of the festival I'm giving a…

I'm on the radio twice this week. On 23 September I will be on
Angel Radio which is a station dedicated to 'snap, crackle and no pop.' It is run primarily by older people who have created a unique radio service for lovers of vintage music and nostalgia. You can listen to it on the web site
www.angelradio.co.uk or on 101.1FM. The station has listeners from all over the UK and the USA, so I'll get a chance to…
