What's in the diary for May

In May I'll be appearing at Crimefestin the UK. I'll be on a panel on Friday 16 May with fellow crime authors Elizabeth Haynes, Chris Longmuir, Lesley Thomson and Felix Francis entitled "What’s So Good About Crime?" It will be held between 17.10 and 18.00. CrimeFest takes place at the Bristol Royal Marriott Hotel, UK from 15 - 18 May 2014.

Is crime fiction set for a rise in sales? Publishers think so, crime authors hope so!

I read an article at the weekend that said "Crime often spikes when the economy splutters, but does demand for crime fiction surge as well? Publishers hope so."  So do crime authors.

I have no dog in the Amazon-Macmillan pissing contest. I’m not published, and I’m not particularly hopeful about the prospects, so it doesn’t have much of an effect on me, other than potentially forcing me to buy books by Macmillan authors elsewhere.
