Bookselling Without Borders

As much as independent booksellers may have wished that Borders had gotten swallowed up back in the 1990s when it put so many stores out of business and was well on its way to becoming a 1,249-store behemoth, the response to its impending demise has, for the most part, been measured.…

The steps of releasing a Mystery Novel...I think...

My new novel is set for release in Sept and I can't wait but oh the work that goes into a release. I always knew it was a lot of work but until you actually do the work involved you really have no idea. First you have to write the novel, which I'd always heard was the easy part and I thought, 'Yeah, right.' But as it turns out the wisdom set down by those who did it before me holds true. One other place you can register is at… Continue

Self-Publishing: Promoting Yourself - Part Two

As you prepare for your book to come out, a great thing you can do in advance is to get together a press release, and there are a few sites that will send them out for you for FREE.

The only downside I had with the ones I have sent out is that I wanted to put my contact info as misspoirotatymail.com instead of using the @ sign. Why does this matter? Once that release goes out a bunch of spammers will flood your inbox with a bunch of stuff you don't want or need. Fortunately, they…
