"You truly feel what the author is trying to convey to the audience of readers as you become within yourself part of the hunt: Who, What, Where and How we're the murders committed. I highly recommend this book."
--Amazon Vine Program Reviewer

I no longer have to write query letters to agents.
That part of my life is over. I have a great agent now and plan on spending the rest of my life with him. I can't tell you how happy that makes me.
I wasn't always good at writing agent query letters. It took a lot of practice honing the essential information I needed to include in the letter and to be…

The battle is over, the bombs dropped, the shots fired, the smoke cleared, the dead lay scattered across the battlefield, the wounded picked up and carted out to the mobile hospitals. Me, I sit with my back up against the trench, face hot and dirty from the soil that sticks to my sweat, my breath beginning to even out, lit cigarette danging from trembling fingers.
Yesterday was the day I wanted to see if I could sell more books online than I could at a traditional signing. As you…

Well, it's more than a push...I'm doing a signing tonight at the Albany B&N for THE REMAINS, but I want to see at the same time, how many digital copies of THE INNOCENT I can sell at the same time. Every year a new surprise breakout author rises up from the ashes of literary despair. In the past we've seen JK Rowling and James Frey fill the bill. But this year’s breakout author is different in some pretty remarkable aspects. Not only is she self-published, yet she works with an established literary agent. Her name is Amanda Hocking and she's a 26 year paranormal YA author who not only has one book listed on the USA Today Top 150 bestseller's List, she's got half a dozen.
Her…

It's sometimes a little daunting seeing nothing but 5-Star reviews being posted for one of your noir novels. And believe me, that ain't no boast because I've gotten my share of "you suck(s)" during my time as an author.
But these recent reviews for THE INNOCENT are sweeter than normal since they're for a re-released novel that used to be called…

The funny thing about newly re-released novels on Kindle and E-Book is that you can dust off some pretty tasty reviews that went largely unnoticed when the big ass publisher decided to remainder the book for one corporate reason or another...So here is a stellar review on my new release…

Lately there's been talk amongst publishers, agents, and authors alike that E-Books might one day be offered to the public for free (ok, I know this is happening now, but I mean ALL E-Books). Instead of the reader paying the author/publisher, sponsors will pay in exchange for product placement inside the text. Since the books are read via electronic reader, readers will be able to link to specific product websites, and even to that author's own books should the opportunity present…

Last night I watched The Book of Eli on Netflix. It was about a man who must walk across the US in a post apocalyptic period in which a great war has ravaged the world, decimating its populations. What's also apparently happened is that books were burned. Lots of them. Especially Bibles and all manners of scripture no matter their religion, since it was religion that sparked the great final conflict in the first place. Go figure.
There is only one more King James Bible left on the…

I was invited to be the guest author at a local ladies book club this past week. I don't mean "ladies" in a demeaning or male chauvinist sort of way. By "ladies" I just mean that no men are invited to this particular book club. And because no men are invited the ladies like to dress up the way they want, drink what they want (and a lot of it!), and chat loudly about whatever they want, whether it…

Remember the days when you'd sign a major contract, get a big ass check in the mail, and just spend a year or so partying like a rock star in New York or Los Angeles or Lincoln, Nebraska for that matter? There was nothing else to do because after all, your book probably wouldn't be hitting the shelves until at least a year from contract execution.
I remember my original editor for…
