Sorry for the blatant self-promotion, but I'm celebrating the publication of my latest Benjamin Justice mystery,
SPIDER SEASON, which goes on sale today from St. Martin's Minotaur.
SPIDER SEASON is the eighth novel in the series, which has won an Edgar and three Lambda Literary Awards. It's on the dark and character-driven side, for more adventurous readers one might say. If you'd like to read the first chapter, go to the link on the home page of my web site:…

What's good enough for Dan Brown and Random House is good enough for me. Random House US is launching a major advertising campaign in the USA on 23 November, with Dan Brown and other notables from the world of fiction, showing consumers that books make an ideal Christmas present. So, in my own little way I thought I'd beat the drum for the UK.
According to a survey in the UK by Deloitte, (one of my former employers by the way) books are desired…

The producers of my play, Murder at the Pelican Club which is to be premiered in Liverpool on 26 November are looking for a Liverpool based Film Maker to make a
Murder at the Pelican Club trailer, credited and looped all day in a venue in Liverpool. It will also be shown on You Tube, and excerpts on MySpace, Facebook plus other social networking sites. How exciting and what a fantastic opportunity for someone. Great exposure and experience. So come on all…

Yesterday I received the cover art for my May, 2009 release, TO HELL IN A HANDBASKET. It's gorgeous and just what I envisioned when I sent directions to the art department. In the first scene of the book, there's an accident on a Breckenridge, CO ski slope, and Claire has to position her skis in an X on the slope to show the ski patrol where the victim is. The colors are breathtaking and give you a chill. I love how the artist "tied" it in with the gift bow theme of the first book, A REAL…

In August I was commissioned to write a murder mystery play. More used to penning crime novels this is my first serious play and I thoroughly enjoyed writing it. It began with an e mail in August asking writers for submissions for a new murder mystery play to be performed by professional actors and actresses in the autumn. Deadlines were extremely tight. I needed to know more.
What kind of play were they looking for? Was it to be a serious play…

Because my friends live all over the world, I knew only a handful would be able to attend my book launch no matter where it was held. So I decided to recreate the traditional launch party experience on the Web.
Entertainment for the October 1-3, 2008 event includes video welcomes from David Morrell, Gayle Lynds, James Rollins, and Douglas Preston, a reading by a professional voice actress who's also a New York Times author, standup comedy from one of my author friends - even…

To celebrate the completion and upcoming release of his third medical thriller, FRESH FROZEN hardcover, October 2008), author Darden North, MD blogs again.
After two years of tapping on laptop keys, enduring multiple edits, working through some research, and waiting for divine inspiration, the manuscript of my third novel, FRESH FROZEN, is finally complete and headed for publication. The urgency imposed by its October 2008 release helped me…

Today -- July 18th -- is the official release day of my debut book, NOX DORMIENDA. Still feels unreal to me ... and a little like a deep-sea diver with the bends. :) Physical copies still won't be available for about a week, but this is a rite of passage, a marking of time and a culmination of a lot of teamwork.
I'm celebrating by writing, but I wanted to thank Crimespace for being the first and one of the best places to meet people. I've made friends here I plan to have for a…

In response to a request from Shawn Michel de Montaigne I'm posting a short extract from my current critically acclaimed novel, 'A Study in Red - The Secret Journal of Jack the Ripper'
What follows is the introduction and first chapter of the book. I'll be happy to post a further short extract at a later date, but for now, I hope this may whet a few appetites.
INTRODUCTION
The London of the 1880s differed greatly from the city of today. Poverty and wealth… Continue

Soon after the release of my novel 'A Study in Red - The Secret Journal of Jack the Ripper', I was approached by the editor of the Journal of 'The Whitechapel Society 1888' and asked to write an article for their June issue, telling of the genesis of the book. The society, based in London, studies not only the crimes of Jack the Ripper, but the history of Victorian and Edwardian London in general. I felt privileged to be asked to contribute to the journal of this prestigious society, and the…

My new novel DAEMON uses forsensics and special ops themes to tell a traditional horror story. It's definitely not for the squeamish, but loads of fun. The book trailer is now up on You Tube. Check it out here and leave a comment!

For all readers who love LeCarre and Forsyth novels and movies, I am contributing my recently published CROSSROADS thriller. I am also expecting my The Raven Affair to be published in 2009. Another thriller in the same genre. My third novel, Last Flight to Rome, needs a bit more work before submission. And my fourth novel, Tunnel, is still in the 'formative' stage. Interested readers can find my novels at www.SNEDELTON.com. I have received a couple of… Continue
