I went to see the movie District 9 and was blown away by it's originality. I know this is a crime forum but we're writers and you can appreciate something well done and original. Sci-Fi has always been a great way to get political messages through to the public. I wonder if anyone else agrees with me on this?

The aliens are penned up and segragated from humans. Then asked to relocate 200 miles away in a "nice" new tent home. The political messages were thick.

It is from South Africa, and in its way, it's also about Apartheid. Which proves that the aliens should have aimed for landing in America.

Then they'd all have to get jobs driving cabs and working in convenience stores, while their children outperform the Earthling children in school to get the big money tech jobs.

Wasn't it about apartheid? I read it is set in South Africa and the director is from Johannesburg. I haven't seen it.
