eBooks… Fad or Future?

I know I talk about eBooks a lot and I am sure some people are sick and tired of hearing about it, but… I can’t help myself. eBooks are the reason I can write for a living, the reason I can sit here in a local
Starbucks in Nampa Idaho and not really have a job. I laugh every time someone
asks what I do. I think about it and say, “I am semi retired.”

I don’t think what I do as work, I mean writing and making stuff is not really work. But all this is not possible without eBooks. I am a no body really in the book
world. I started out Self-published and now own a small publishing house. We
have 20 or so authors and are still not yet a year old. However, my books sell
well and they became bestsellers on Amazon over a year ago.

I started out thinking eBooks were a great way to market. I posted my first book and listed it for 14.99 on Amazon. I sold about 12 a month for 7 months. I was
happy with this but got to thinking… I wonder if I can reach more people at a
cheaper price? So I dropped it to 4.99. That month I sold 48. My little brain
started working and I did the crazy… the unthinkable… the insane! I dropped it
to .99.

I know, crazy and… and... And yes, I sold 120 that month and made more than the 14.99 price because I sold more. Month after that I sold 250, then… 350, 550, 800,
900, 1000, 1200. I was now making a good chunk of change and reaching fans to
boot.

Now about this time Amazon changed their pricing and were giving 70% back to authors but the lowest price to take advantage of this was 2.99. I was more than a little
scared. I could see my numbers drop and wondered what would happen. I now had
two books out and all I could think to do was, give it a try.

I raised the price to 2.99. Guess what happened?

Yup, I sold 2600.

Long story short I made $5400.00 in one month from two titles just on Amazon. I average about $3500-4500 on two titles and now have a new teen thriller coming out and
a third thriller coming out in the spring. See why I am an eBook crazy-man?
This is a chance to make a real living as an author and compete with the big
boys.

If you want to break into this market, I recommend a company called Green eBooks, they convert files and can host taking all the work out of the process. You can
email them at: greenebooks@hotmail.com.

Next I say, if you are a writer and do not have everything you have up as a eBook, get moving. I even have a short story up called a “Digital Short.” It is selling
for a buck and selling well. This is the once in a lifetime kind of thing we
all wish we could be a part of… here it is. Now what are you going to do?
