Court Gentry, The Gray Man, Greaney’s main character in the novel, On Target, makes the impossible, possible. Check out the story line of the latest installment in the
series: “Four years ago, Court Gentry was betrayed by his handlers in the CIA.
To survive, he had to eliminate his own brothers in arms. Now, as a master
assassin known as the Gray Man, he makes his living killing other people. But
when an old comrade he thought dead returns to haunt him, his own life is put
in the crosshairs.

The man wants Court to complete a mission, with one crucial catch to his orders: Instead of a difficult assassination, the job will entail a nearly impossible kidnapping-and Court must return his quarry to the very
team that turned on him.

With his unforgiving employers on one side, his blackmailing former friends on the other, and a doomed mission ahead, Court Gentry would kill to get out of this one alive….”

They should put a disclaimer on this novel: Caution, novel is too intense and wrought with action, may cause you to lose sleep till done turning all pages, incredible body count, amazing fight scenes and all together
too much of all of the above. Does the Gray Man come back and kick some major
arse? Yes and we have waited far too long get our fix of it. These novels
should come out way more often, so we can enjoy the type of nonstop action and
suspense that we are getting accustomed to from Mark Greaney.

Okay , it isn’t all about the action, intense fight scenes, escaping by the skin of his teeth and his use of phenomenal tactical skills; it is also how Greaney has allowed Gentry to grow and feel, to make him more
human. He gives description of his pain from the previous novels’ injuries and
how on occasion he wishes he had a little something to take off the edge. Gentry
is not a machine or totally unfeeling, quite the opposite, and we are able to
see that and identify with him and his feeling as we go on another journey
around the globe. I for one am enjoying reading about Court Gentry, enjoying
his growth , enjoying his fight to figure out his place , how is he going to use
his skill set, and for whom.

I had Sept 28th marked on my calendar as I was awaiting the release of this novel. On Target is an apt title, because this novel is just that. Action, suspense,
smart dialogue, and the feeling that this author did his homework when it came
to locals and their descriptions, make this novel one smart, fun read. If you
haven’t had the pleasure of reading of the Gray Man, please go to back to first
novel; you are lucky to be getting in on the ground floor. Backtrack, burn
through that one, take a breath or two as you need to come up for air, and then
dive right back into this one.
