I was lucky enough to receive this between an earthquake and a hurricane and tornado. Fun right. I basically got to read this using various forms of light also: sunlight, light bulbs when they worked, and I really went oldschool for a while, candlelight. I was also supposed to interview Steven James on Monday at 1pm, but I had emailed them last week ,on Friday, and explained that we were in the path of the hurricane and may not be able to have him on as a guest Monday because I didn’t know the outcome, what was going to happen to us and the services we enjoy, whether it is electric or internet. Well I had one but not the other so we have to reschedule. But I got to read the novel. I am a big fan of the man’s work no two ways about it, and when I put this in my hands the only thing that tore me away from it was the hurricane and the tornado. I will get the privilege of interviewing the author Weds. Sept. 7th at 2pm EST.

Patrick Bowers is back, coffee drinking and all, an amazing piece of work. Fast paced, full of pain, both mental and physical, and his trade mark twists and turns. Basically if you leave this novel before you have read the very last word, well let me just say you will be missing out on a nice twist. Patrick Bowers, if you thought you knew him, guess again. Steven James goes where no fan has been and gives us yet another side of the man, goes into his past and what has marked his present, painful, open wounds and all. This is a very deep, deep installment, into the heart .mind and soul of an amazing fictional character. This novel should be in your hands as soon as you can get it. Do not wait for the next hurricane, earthquake, or tornado to read it, get it now.

Here is the synopsis:

“While investigating a double homicide in an isolated northern Wisconsin town, FBI Special Agent Patrick Bowers uncovers a high-tech conspiracy that twists through long-buried Cold War secrets and targets present-day tensions in the Middle East.

In his most explosive thriller yet, bestselling author Steven James delivers a multi-layered storytelling tour de force that not only delivers pulse-pounding suspense but also deftly explores the rippling effects of the choices we make.

The Queen is a techno-thriller that will leave you breathless, offered by the author Publishers Weekly calls a "master storyteller at the peak of his game."
