I know exactly what you mean, Jimbo. I live in Northeast Alabama, and it is downright rude not to lift your hand to someone passing, even if you don't know one another. Sounds very nice. friendly. british people are generally too restrained to wave (I'm a transplanted American), but they wave including my husband as acknowledgement to another driver as in a thank you. wavying in small towns sounds nicer though.
