John,
I, too, wonder why the people aren't more outraged? If we had a draft as in Vietnam, I believe thousands would be protesting in the streets and in Washington. The lack of courage by the Democrats in Congress is truly stunning. The only thing that seems to get anyone's attention is the rising gas prices and the failing economy. We are headed for a major train wreck in the U.S. and we haven't even begun to deal with the long term costs of the war in Iraq estimated to be 3 trillion dollars. Plus, Medicare and Social Security funds are running dry. At least Canada covers health care. Most poor people here don't have it. The next President is going to have to start telling people the truth about the problems we face, regardless of how painful they are going to be. But I'm not holding my breath.
Chris
John,
If the clowns in the White House who disregarded the Geneva Accords and Habeas Corpus actually read anything, they might understand the difference between fact and fiction . . . and that Jack Bauer and "24" isn't reality TV.

Happy Sunday, John
Thanks for reading and posting on my blog. After I posted, I worried for a moment about offending people with my fondness for profanity, then thought, after writing and publishing The Sex Club, it's a little late to worry about offending people. Thanks for mentioning "Frank." I think there's a lot of cops named Frank in fiction too.
Just stopping in to say Hi. Elmore Leonard is near the top of my list too. Congratulations on getting your novel published. And apologies from Eugene for producing another fake memoir writer.
I just read GROW HOUSE on the Demolition site. Great story, and the twist at the end has the quality of being a surprise, yet seeming inevitable in retrospect. A great read.
Thanks for the nice comment on my ThugLit story. I've read enough of your discussion comments to build a healthy respect for your opinion, so your comment means a lot.

sorry. Didn't realize earlier that you responded (in a nice way) to my small review.
Hope you could read The Big O.

I can't imagine having that conversation with my wife. It had to be devastating to Spitzer's wife and to his children.

I thought Dirty Sweet was fantastic. So glad to know that there are others out there coming from Leonard and not Chandler!
I started another discussion sans my review. Maybe a discussion will start from there. I still might put the review up in my blog.
I just picked up a copy of Dirty Sweet over the holidays. Looking forward to diving in this weekend.
What's EVERYBODY KNOWS THIS IS NOWHERE about?
Besides Toronto, I mean...
