Sylvia, it's good to see you on CrimeSpace. I'm just trying to get started with it. Wow! There are awesome people here. Hope you have continued writing success this year. I'm getting back to work after too long a break. Perhaps I'll have a new zeal since the holiday season is over.

Hi, Syl:

Oh, my, but I am behind the times. I just came across the note you kindly left on my page back in May and don't know if I ever responded to it: I certainly hope so, and apologize profusely if I did not.

You asked about which of the 11 books in my Dick Hardesty Mystery series you should start with (and thank you for wanting to read them): The series began with The Butcher's Son, but any of the books will stand alone. The main advantage to starting at the beginning is to follow the growth and development of the characters. But again, you can't go wrong with just starting anywhere.

Again, I apologize (either for not responding before, or for repeating myself if I did). Life ain't easy, kid.

Best,

Dorien

Hi,
I’m looking forward to sharing writing experiences with you.
I have “finished” a mystery novel, still needing some fact checking and editing. My plan is to hire an editor and then put it on a print and demand website such as lulu.com.
Reason: I don’t want the hassle of trying to sell and promote it. Yet don’t want it to land in a drawer, as some kind of hobby product.
Any thoughts? Any suggestions for an editor? Your opinions are welcomed.
(My icon has no meaning; it was the only graphic I had stored in my computer.)
Thanks,
Joan

Hi Sylvia. Congrat's on your books, that's truly exciting news. I like to hear that author's really make it. I loved the wit in the Princess Bride. I look forward to hearing more about your work.

I also like Barr's work, and she's a hoot on a panel discussion.
