Thanks for the invite. Crime in Chicago? Who'd-a thunk it?

Hi Todd, nice to meet you. I was born in Chicago. Went back a couple years ago to do a panel at Bouchercon and unlike with most cities, I was impressed with the changes. Which suburbs do you use? Sadistic killers, though, I gotta say that does not sound pretty. And tough but tortured protag---I do the female version of that myself. My Rachel Chavez (her 2nd adventure, LIFEBLOOD, is just now out) is a recovering alcoholic who owns a parking garage in downtown Los Angeles. Are you by any chance familiar with Deon Meyer, the South African crime writer? He does tough but tortured protags, too. Cheers, and best of luck to you.
Hi, Todd -- First, what a great-looking site. Makes me embarrassed about mine, which is default all the way. Second, having looked at your activities, I wonder when you sleep?
And NOVELISTS BOOT CAMP is a great title and a great concept.
Thanks for the invitation. I'll check out 'Boot Camp.'
Which reminds me, I went to basic training with a fella from Naperville, John Gary Brown---whatever happened to him?
Darn, time flies.

Todd,
Thanks for the invitation. What an interesting combination of information! Being married to an ex-airborne ranger, I think I get the idea. Does the word "driven" apply to you?

Thanks for the invitation. I'll definitely explore your books.
Thanks for contacting me! I look forward to exploring your writing. I'd appreciate any feedback about my writing/reviews or links back to my "official", original blog, which is about 10 days old and which can be reached via my crimespace page. I have a my own (newish) list of crime blogs and other fiction sites. Best wishes, Jim
Thanks for the invite, Todd. I'm downloanding your "freebie" from Novelist's Boot Camp. I a new author whose completely out of her element when it comes to promoting myself and my books. My publisher does very little in the way of promotion, so I'm left steering the ship, and reading the "how to" book along the way. Gets very interesting, sometimes.
Great to meet you, Todd. I see your last "assignment" was an assistant professor at West Point. Oops, sorry - was "AS an assistant professor..." Whew! For a moment there, I thought we'd lost one. Cheers from a writing mate in Australia.

Greetings from Connemara! Been two years since I've seen you - LIM Chicago 2005 - great conference! Hope you are well.
Slan, Pat.
How can you stand NWU? Talk about a vicious bunch of back-stabbing, self-defeating foot-shooters . . .
Ever run across Capt. Dorian Cougias? He was AAR and SF, wrapped up his career after the Panama days.

My mom's from Chicago--I'm going back in January for a conference, which means I have to miss LIM, but am already planning for it next year.
And--I gotta ask--how 'bout some pictures of those kilts? ;)
Smiles,
Doug
