As for some talk shows, they tend to go for the shock factor and the lowest form of entertainment. I can tell you that anyone I know in Canada is opposed to the death penalty on principle. We've had too many murder sentences overturned years later - David Milgaard, Stephen Truscott to name but two. We have a section in the Dept. of Justice that reviews cases to see if there has been a miscarriage of justice in murder cases.
