Thanks, Vince! Likewise about your blog. Did you see the latest sleaze I added?

I just looked at: http://www.vincekeenan.com/2007/09/miscellaneous-neither-here-noir-there.htm

I'm flattered that you included the Bludis Heresy. I'm also impressed that you number Megan Abbott and Donna Moore among your pals.

I heard that Spears-Payton comparison somewhere recently! I'm not sure who should be more offended there--but, in this scenario, who's Franchot Tone? (because I think I know who Tom Neal is...)

That trailer is surprising accurate! it's a very strange movie--sort of Bell Jar crossed with Beauty and the Beast. Jean Stapleton has a bit part as a prostitute--that's the kind of movie it is...

re: NYC Noir--yeah, that's where I caught DEADLINE. Plus SOMETHING WILD w. Carroll Baker and Ralph Meeker, which wasn't exactly noir but pretty interesting. Have you seen it?

Hey, Vince--isn't DEADLINE utterly hypnotic?
You going to Noir City in SF this January?

Vince - thank you very much for delivering my hug to Eddie. I DREAM about a film noir event in Glasgow!

Hi Vince - thanks for the invite. I'm really enjoying your Noir City Seattle round ups (and did I mention green with jealousy?) I'm really looking forward to hearing what you think of NIGHTMARE ALLEY. And I agree, Eddie Muller's DARK CITY DAMES is excellent. OUT OF THE PAST is one of my favourite films noir too. Mind you, it's quite a long list :o)

Hi Vince - How's tricks? Cheers for stopping by my space, I really appreciate it. Glad to see you're a fan of Out of the Past - best noir of 'em all, no contest. Bob Mitchum's so cool he scares icebergs ...

Cheers,

Hey Vince--thanks for the invite, even if you are a Mets fan ('86 still stings). "Taking of Pelham One Two Three" is one of my favorites--especially the end, eespecially the end the look Matthau gives Martin Balsam. I've also got something going on in Hollywood right, but I'm kept so far out of the loop that I won;t know about it until the deal is set.

Pleased to meet you. Good luck with those lurching screenplays ... my book's lurching, too, but whether it will arrive on that silver screen, who knows?

Hey, Vince, thanks for the heads up on Hard Case Crime reprinting SOMEBODY OWES ME MONEY. I hadn't heard about that and can't wait to get a copy. I just ordered and received the original Playboy (July and August 1969) magazines that serialized the novel -- now I just wish I could get Westlake to sign them.......

Vince--

So I wrote a little report on the first night of the Film Noir Festival in L.A. on my Crimespace blog. I haven't had time to check Christa Faust's site, but I'm sure she'll be filing her thoughts. Have a good weekend.

Westlake is a huge influence for me as well. I started with the comic novels. God Save The Mark is a favorite. Lately I've been savoring some of his earlier books like Killy and Killing Time. Under any name, he's worth reading.

Hey, Vince, I see you're a Westlake fan. He's the guy whose work inspired me to write. My two favorites of his are Somebody Owes Me Money and The Fugitive Pigeon, although I also love the Parker books, the Grofield books and have a soft spot for Mitchell Tobin...

Keenan does lend itself to chants. I still dream of becoming a military strongman.

It's nice to be here.
