About Me:
I write mystery/suspense/supernatural fiction. My current project is the Brenda Strange series. I am at work on the fourth book and hope to make it at least a six or seven book series. Another passion is the short story, including flash fiction. I'm stumbling my way into more short story writing than novels. Life....what a ride.

Early Endorsements for “A Circle of Souls”

Linda Fairstein, NYT Bestselling Author: "A fascinating debut - this novel takes the reader to the darkest places in the human soul, from a writer with the authenticity to lead us there. A stunning thriller and an important read."

Judge Judy Sheindlin, star of the Judge Judy Show: "The seminal work of this fine author kept me glued to my chair until the adventure was over and the mystery solved. A great read!"

Book Synopsis:

The sleepy town of Newbury, Connecticut, is shocked when a little girl is found brutally murdered. The town s top detective, perplexed by a complete lack of leads, calls in FBI agent Leia Bines, an expert in cases involving children.

Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Gram, a psychiatrist at Newbury s hospital, searches desperately for the cause of seven-year-old Naya Hastings devastating nightmares. Afraid that she might hurt herself in the midst of a torturous episode, Naya s parents have turned to the bright young doctor as their only hope.

The situations confronting Leia and Peter converge when Naya begins drawing chilling images of murder after being bombarded by the disturbing images in her dreams. Amazingly, her sketches are the only clues to the crime that has panicked Newbury residents. Against her better judgment, Leia explores the clues in Naya s crude drawings, only to set off an alarming chain of events.
In this stunning psychological thriller, innocence gives way to evil, and trust lies forgotten in a web of deceit, fear, and murder.

Interesting that you have chosen to go the self-publishing route, though in light of your comments concerning publishing house, not surprising. I find it almost hard to believe that so many authors have these issues with publishers. I was aware of one or two, but this number seems to be growing, as a reader, this alarms me.

Publishers generally give the impression they are batter able to get books into a wider readership through their marketing and outlets. I might have agreed with this 10 years ago, but now, well, often getting your hands on a book is not that easy.

I would certainly like to get to know more about good/bad publishing houses and, more importantly why they are bad. Perhaps many readers are not conscious of the publisher when they buy a book - nor, how much the author receives for their work. I must do some more investigating into this and attempt to find out these facts. Surely, somewhere, there must be a publishing house that serves not only the reader but provides the author with a decent return for their efforts.
Perhaps I should leave some sort of "blog" on my page and see what experiences other authors have had in this regard. This sure is getting to be like waking up not from a bad dream - but in one.

A treacherous maze - how very true. When I took my four "gap" years from reading/purchasing books, I came back to a very changed world. I appeared to have gone through some time warp, authors had disappeared, publishing houses and bookstores no longer existed.

Trying to piece together where they had gone - and more importantly why, has been an interesting journey. There are many new publishing houses, not all benefit the author by all accounts and many don't stay the course - if they collapse "owning" the authors work (which has happened to one or two bright, promising authors) that makes life difficult not only for the author but endangers loyal readers and those good publishing houses that do exist.
I was particularly saddened by the apparent attitude of Virago with regard to the LL series written by Sandra. I so dislike (that's mild enough) publishers who, while in the "mainstream" opt to jump on a perceived bandwagon and then hop off, or, fail to really assist the author with suggestions, guidance etc.

I've been on this site less than a week, I have encountered not one, but a number of favourite authors and also discovered some new ones. But I can't help thinking there needs to be a long hard look, by publishers into their operations/dealings with authors, or I may find I am working through another time warp.
I'd really love to know what plans you have for your future in writing, especially as you now appear to be taking control yourself, I wonder how hard that might be in the long run. Sorry, I've written a lot here.
