Rowing - River Thames
I used to do this when I lived in England. Practice, as I recall, took place around 5 a.m. in the absolutely freezing cold. You could not feel your hands after awhile. The worst was having to haul the boat in and out of the freezing water with "no hands." I was never particularly good at rowing and I never competed officially because the rest of the crew wanted to, like, win.
