I love this woman.  Every mystery has to be a cozy.  Plus, I'm far left!

I am half way this this book and I have never read such trash language in my life in a mystery book. I can read 3 to 4 books a week just reading at night and I was totally disgusted with this one. I chose it because of the setting...Cape Cod..which I love and I am enjoying the mystery part of it but I feel all the foul mouthing crap in it is uncalled for. I cannot believe you come from a place like Wisconsin and write such trash but of course you are far left (from some of your writing in the book) so that figures...anything goes. I wish you well but if this is an example of your type of writing I will not buy your books again. Yes I am a female.

Kind of hard to decide which is the funniest part.

I'm guessing she's impervious.

One of the sure symptoms of ultra-conservatism is that they are impervious to many things: reason being one. They cannot abide anyone else's reason. Therefore they are also ultra-quick to take offense at anything that "threatens" their belief system. They have TOO much to lose, don't you know, because if they are wrong....it's not really a "live and let live" situation. For them to be RIGHT, we have to be not left, but WRONG. There's just that nagging little fear that perhaps the left MIGHT be right, so the DENIAL mechanism has to kick in full throttle.

O Jon, it just came to me....oh, you cagey Ohioan....this right wing blogger....why, she's your own invention, isn't she!! YOU wrote that blog, didn't you! What a clever marketing trick---it's brilliant, really! : D Well, it wouldn't have been a bad idea, really....!

What really set her off was probably that you used New England as your setting, and we all know that part of the country belongs to "Murder She Wrote!"
There's a cozy for you — Cabot Cove, Maine gets overtaken by Provincetown's flamboyantly gay people after all of Jessica Fletcher's neighbors are murdered in her previous books. Connection? Our beloved sleuth may have to don a studded dog collar, a feathered headdress and a rainbow thong to uncover the truth.

Kind of already did that one in HIGH SEASON. Great minds...
I once got a comment where someone kept calling me Charlie, ranted about Fox News, and how Michael Moore being appointed to the Motion Picture Academy Board of Governors somehow destroyed everything I just said in my blog post.

The problem with the comment was that my name isn't Charlie, and my blog post was about Don Johnson winning a lawsuit over TV profits and had no mention of Fox News or Michael Moore.

Some folks just have their own thing they want to talk about, and thanks to the internet they want to use your blog to do it.
This is exactly right, D.R. For a lot of people, the internet takes the place of standing on street corners and shouting crazy diatribes at passers-by.
It's even worse, because when they're on the street, people can see them, the internet's anonymity has a way of unleashing someone's inner loudmouth.
And she signs off with "Yes I am female"?

I do think there are people who are just plain disgruntled and waiting for something to release the pent up complaints. At least incoherent letters are better than a local spree killer here who had just shot down a businessman who he thought had cheated his mother, and he was driving to find a second guy he felt had wronged her, and he happened to drive by an anti-abortion protester. And he just decided he didn't like him either, so he stopped and shot him too. (And from the sound of it, he wasn't even particularly pro-choice - he just didn't like the guy's sign.)

People who are ready to blow are just ready to blow.
Jon ... It sounds to me like she is a spinster that is sexually frustrated and she got all worked up when she wasn't included the three some.

What part of South Eastern Ohio, I'm not far from there and I grew up in those hills.

Garry-
Hey Garry--could be. You just never know--it's got a whiff of Christian home-school mom to it, too.

I was born and grew up in Athens--my dad taught at OU. Where you from?
I am from Newark and live there now. Most of my kin were in Washington, Morgan and Noble Counties. I took a few classes at O.U. in the late 50s (music) and trapped fox some in Athens county.
Small world.

We have a couple of families in Newark with your surname.

Garry-
Nerk! Small world, indeed. My dad would have just started at OU in '58 or '59--painting and drawing.

Probably not related to the Nerk Loomises--my dad grew up in Baltimore and moved out to SE Ohio for the job, after going to art school on the GI Bill.
And she signs off with "Yes I am female"?

I had the brief, yet disturbing image of her pausing in her typing, looking down to check, then typing this last sentence, as if the "Yes" was her verification to herself.
