Reading The Town by Chuck Hogan, previously published as The Prince of Thieves before being made into the movie. Hogan is a terrific writer and even tho I saw the movie, I'm finding the book riveting. I'm adding him to my list of fav authors and plan to buy his other books.

I started reading Sue Grafton's latest novel, "V is for Vengeance" last night and, even though my eyes were getting heavy and I was struggling to keep them open, I wanted to keep reading. I can't wait to get back to it tonight!

A Necessary Evil by Alex Kava. Just recently discovered her work.

Been trying very much to catch up with the review piles... although I still can't see the coffee table so I'm not sure how well I'm doing with this.

At the moment I'm reading The Caller by Karin Fossum, just finished Something Missing by Matthew Dicks and Luther The Calling by Neil Cross (amongst a heap of others).  I'm also dipping in and out of The 12 Days of Christmas short story collection from Stuart MacBride, who I'm assuming will have a similar attitude to Christmas to me ... which seems to be pretty well working out so far.  After these books I'm not sure what I'll pick up next although Collecting Cooper by Paul Cleave, Comeback by Peter Corris and Murder and Redemption by Noel Mealey are distinct possibilities.

Would love some details, Karen.

About which books sorry I.J.?

Is the Stuart MacBride book good, Karen?

I'm reading it as an ebook Jacqui - so it's a series of .99c short stories - but they really are good - typical MacBride :)

i like the sound of that. thanks.

You answered the Stuart McBride one.  Fossum is one of my favorites.  Would like to know more.  Also the rest are unfamiliar.  Aussie authors?  Anything there that might be accessible for Americans?

Matthew Dicks is an American author - it's a different sort of book - burglar with OCD tendencies...

Neil Cross, Englishman who lives in NZ - there's a TV series connection to this book which I've not seen, but Neil Cross is a fantastic author (used to be a scriptwriter on the UK TV show Spooks).

Paul Cleave - NZ author / some of my favourite scare you half to death books by this guy - all available now as ebooks I believe.

Peter Corris - godfather of Australian Crime Fiction and Mealey is a new author here - don't know much about him yet.

The good thing about ebooks is now a lot of our local authors are more easily available without having to hock your grandmother just to pay the postage!

My current recreational reading is outside of this genre.
