Barnes and Noble Will Not Stock Amazon Published Titles

It doesn't seem very smart to me.  They're no longer going to sell Barry Eisler, for instance?  I know Amazon is trying to take over the world, and I understand where B&N is coming from, but they are cutting off their nose to spite their face.

Yes, it's foolish.  But then, I don't shop B&N.  I shop Amazon. Much better service and selection.

And now I'm starting to think I should've bought a Kindle.

Do you have a nook?  I'm wondering if it's going to be like Betamax vs VHS, if it will really all shake out to just one.  I'm not sure it will.  Regardless, I don't have an ereader at all.  All of my family members got actual books from me for Christmas this year, bought at an actual independent bookstore.  Paid a little more than I would have at Amazon, but this store hosted my launch party last year and I owe them.

Yep, it's a Nook. I like the interface better than Kindle. That was the decision-maker. Maybe it'll be a collectible some day.

Makes perfect sense, although it's a shame we've reached this point in the slow devolution of the publishing ecosystem.  And I'm not sure how it is that Amazon's going to avoid becoming a vertical monopoly, once they're the #1  publisher, retailer, distributor, etc., and there's no one left to offer any serious competition.  I guess from their point of view there are worse problems one could have.

Having been treated badly by publishers and retailers, I can't say I worry much about them.

I'm not surprised that B&N is playing this card. B&N's lost tons of business to Amazon so the last thing they'll wanna do is sell Amazon's titles. LOL!
