Update on Writing My First Crime Novel

I am suffering  with pre-writers block. The reason that I called that is because I am still in the brainstorming stages. I just stuck with coming with more ideas for writing my novel. I know what I want to write about but just stuck.  Oh well, that a struggle for a beginner writer, lol

I'm a plotter, and hate to start something without knowing where it's going to go. That being said, you may just need to write a chapter or two and see where it wants to go. Maybe thinking too much about the story before you write it isn't how you're wired.

Timothy Hallinan has put together an excellent book called MAKING STORY. In it, twenty-one authors write essays about how they plot their stories. In short, there is no one "best" way; you need to pick what works best for you. There may well be an idea that resonates with you among those 21 essays. It's only four bucks for Kindle, and a quick read.

Good luck.
