Anyone ever seen the 1945 film noir classic Detour? It was based on a 1939 novel by Martin M Goldsmith, and I've just narrated the audiobook. This is the first time this novel has ever been released in audio form and I'm thrilled to have done it.

You can check it out and listen to an audio sample here. http://j.mp/1y6XCr2

They Live By Night is an excellent noir. One of my favorites, in fact. The characters in that movie have the greatest names: Keechie, Chickamaw, T-Dub, etc.

Have I seen it? I can't count the times. Great noir film. It's on TCM Wed. Oct. 22 at 2:45 a.m. Good one to DVR.

Even better is 1948's "They Live By Night," Nicholas Ray's first feature film. Farley Granger and Kathy O'Donnell in an adaptation of Edward Anderson's Depression-era novel, "Thieves Like Us." They don't get much better than either the book or film.
