I am ready to submit my next short story and I am eyeballing two print crime magazines that I like. Both are top drawer, one has been around longer, one newer but edgier. Both have good readership and feature writers I admire a great deal. The story itself is gritty and hard-boiled; Ladies Home Journal material, it's not!

My questions...How do I choose who to send it to? What is your most important criteria when submitting to a print magazine and do you have a preference? What print mags do you all prefer to read and why?

Circulation. :-)
LOL!
You send it to both. And if it's rejected, you send it out to others.
Okay! Then if both accept it, choose the one I am most jazzed about?
Yup.
If they both want it, see Getze's reply
