Hometown:: New Rochelle, NY - now living mentally on the dark side, but physically in sunny Florida.

About Me:: I'm published in lurid noir and hard-boiled crime fiction. In April 2008, my short story PENNIES FROM HEAVEN appeared in "Out of the Gutter Magazine." In Jun & Jul 2007, Parts 1 & 2 of SAFE IN THE HOUSE appeared in Thug Works e-zine.

I'm also a graduate student writing a thesis on the neuro-biological basis of criminal behavior. In December 2008 I'll earn a master's degree in Criminal Forensics Studies: Behavioral Analysis. I also hold a certification in Advanced Sexual Predator Analysis.

My WIP, A STUDY IN FEAR, is a psychological suspense thriller.

A war crimes victim kills so her unborn child can live. Now considered a war criminal, she flees Bosnia with false identity papers, enters the US and becomes Caroline Armstrong, an FBI profiler who understands evil in ways few can imagine.

A fraternity hazing turns twisted when a troubled youth manipulates the incident’s inherent violence as a cover for murder. He assumes his victim’s identity as a means of infiltrating the “David 6” an elite group of graduate students. His goal: to kill his enemy.

When university professor Dr. Rhys Garrison receives death threats, the FBI calls in his ex-lover and protégé, Caroline, to challenge Rhys’ objectivity. But Caroline has troubles of her own. Her past is about to catch up with her.

The suspenseful wisdom according to Patricia Highsmith

Years back, I read Patricia Highsmith’s book on how to write suspense thrillers. She being one of my biggest influences, I actually annotated the text, printed out my notes and stuck them on the fridge. I started reading true crime novels when i was in school and have continued to study crimes. In fact I am always accused of digging too deep but I really want to know who my characters are and what makes them behave as they do. And you?

Jack: Let's hope the agents think so. My McCarthy fandom does not go past BLOOD MERIDIAN - I did not care for THE ROAD, just as you don't share my enthusiasm for OOA. I see lots of gender differences with likes and dislikes, and it's quite a subjective biz we're in.

At 12:29am on April 8th, 2008, Josephine Damian said…: LJ: If a person is being autopsied it's because their death falls into the "forensic context" - was deemed suspicious for any number of reasons. Could be a civil or criminal trial may result and the coroner needs to testify that there was no possibility of any one but a sworn legal officer or background-checked staff who got near the body, which is technically the evidence, which is why it's hard to get some coroner to let you watch.

Also, a lot of macho, hardened homicide cops turn into girlie-men and keel over at the sight of all that butchery, so the coroner figures the average citizen might not be able to handle it as well.
