Tickets & Stuff

This post is a reprint of an article that was published in the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police magazine a few years ago. Officer Funtal's Traffic Camp is coming up in a couple of weeks and I thought this might be a good time to tell everyone about the program. Imagine for a minute that you are seventeen years old. It is 6:45 a.m. and you are driving to the Shaler Area High School. Your favorite CD is playing and you’re tapping… Continue

My Neighbor and Yours

Today is Sweater Day! What is Sweater Day? you may ask. Well, I'll tell yinz (that's Pittsburgh talk for y'all, youse guys, whatever).

Pittsburgh's very own Mister Rogers would have been 80 years old today and the powers that be have designated today, March 20th as Sweater… Continue

It's That Time of Year Again

Crossposted on Working Stiffs.

It’s that time of year again. The leaves are falling, there’s a chill in the air, houses are decorated with pumpkins and ghosts. The kids are planning their costumes, and moms are buying candy. Evenings are spent in front of the fireplace, maybe with a mug of apple cider. Yes, it’s the time of year when I answer the phone at the Shaler Township Police Depar

Anatomy of a DUI Arrest

Crossposted on Working Stiffs

The following is fiction, but details what a typical DUI arrest might be like—at least in Shaler Township. Definitely not great literature by any means, but you'll get the idea.

I flicked the switch for the overhead lights on my patrol car when the Ford Taurus that I’d been following for half a mile crossed the center line fo…

Hi Joyce
I know the frustration of finding and keeping agents! Good luck to you with that. And good luck with your series. It sounds like a winner.

Hi Joyce,

You won't believe this. After taking your advice and that of a couple of other folks at AQ, I switched my 1st and 2nd graphs in my query and tweaked the language we discussed. Today, (on a Saturday) I got a request for a partial from an agent while she is traveling in Italy! *SMH*

This AgentQuest is something else. When you are riding high, it's HIGH and when it's low, well, I can't change the font to show exactly how low it can get.

Truly, thanks for your input to the Query query. It is greatly appreciated.
